when I had to have my cylinder head on my volkswagen rebuilt, i decided to get it ported and polished and upgraded at the same time. The same engine shope that rebuilt it did the porting and polishing. Basically I'm saying most engine rebuilders should be able to do it. If I were going to do it again I'd look for a rebuilder that specialiazes in performance engines, check out some other forums like mustang and corvette ones and ask around there, those seem to be the guys that most often end up doing polishing to either their intake manifolds and or heads.

personally, I'm not looking to polish a performance part, so to speak, like Rick is thinking turbo. I'm thinking about a set of wheels.

Not looking for performance at well, just to give it a nice polish look and have the dull silver taken away

oh in that case do it yourself, get a polishing wheel and some compound and go nuts, just remember not to press to hard and let the compound do the work.

I am thinking that I'm old enough now to pay someone to do it... =)

I'd say pay me but by accepting payment for a job I'm also accepting responsibilty for doing a good job at it. Saying that If this was the summer when i'm laid off and I had the time and tools I'd do it for you but since now i have niether...

let's say if something is sandblasted...how hard is it to get it polished? I assume you all know the texture of sandblasted metal...it's not rough, but it's lightly pitted...

The polishing department is directly in front of my machine at work (magna owned mould shop, actually at work right now!)

The polishers are all Chinese and don't speak much english, but they do a KILLER job on whatever they work on. Want me to ask them for some tips/suggestions?

Hmmm you are right magna owns alot of wicked stuff. They had a great polisher at Polycon in Guelph. But anyway use a polishing compound a 24 of Canadian *beer may vary depending on what you drink*, and a buffer... take about 2 hours and you got yourself drunk and a polished turbo/wheels whatever.

My shop isn't a place where you can get your stuff done if that's what anyone is thinking, but maybe the polishers have some good info. I'll ask them tomorrow.

Does or DOESN'T? Can you ask for me how much it'd cost to polish a set of wheels? Thanks.

Does. Sorry I'm typing this on my phone. Haha. I'll ask when I go pick up my rims today. I brought my friend in and he asked if they could polish his bike frame and he said no problem so I can't see why not for rims. I'll get a price. Do u also want clear applied on the polished surface ?

No clearcoat thanks. I have something else in mind after polishing.
