I haven't had mine online since beginning of August, no rush to get back online yet, as I don't have gold subscription right now.

Fingers crossed im gonna hop on a few days before left 4 dead comes out and stay online. Im not a huge fan of COD so if I cannot play it for some reason it won't bother me. Id rather be hacking zombies :)

All my buddies are still ok, 1 guy has the banhammer though.

Not a coincidence, but excellent marketing strategy by M$. Get all the CoD addicts into a panic so they shell out another $199 for a new system. If I was banned, I'd get a PS3.

Did your friends play games before they were actually released? I heard that was the main problem back when Gears of War 2 was released. Users with modded Xbox's were caught playing online days before the games release. As a result they were all banned.

I hear there isn't really any way for the powers the be to find out that you are playing a copied game if you don't play it before the game is actually released.
So from time to time their are firmware updates that are needed to be done to play the newest games from time to time. You won't be able to play COD4 without the new firmware update.

I used to play Halo 1 on my buddy's xbox using this, it worked surprisingly well.

New DVD FW in dev/test - ixtreme LT (Lite Touch)

We do not have more details atm.
As far as we know the 3 'test boxes' C4Eva has running (see here) are still fine (not banned).
So there's NO ETA for the firmware yet (dont ask) but it should come out for Lite-On drives first.

I used XLink before, you cannot get updates though unfortunately, but the online play is still fairly decent...and free :)

I'm referring the brand new iXtreme that is being coded. Not the 1.61 upgrade...I have a hitachi drive so im still with 1.5..

c4eva, the creator of iXtreme said that the new firmware iXtreme LT will undistinguished from stock firmware..although he says the current firmware cannot be detected, I have seen people in mIRC saying they got a brand new xbox, flashed it, hopped on live and were banned without even putting a game in...

Patiently waiting :), I will have a bunch of boxs to update once this comes out :(

Just keep your cables unpluged for the time being. Don't update any rosters in any games or do any system updates, best to keep your internet cable unplugged when powering up and playing.

Don't go online! Me and all my friends got banned one by one over the timespan of one week. It was like one bad Final Destination movie. Nobody knew the pattern and when we thought it was all over someone else would get killed off!

What exactly does the fix do to my xbox and who does it? Is it a drive re-flash? any guarantees? I assume only legit games will work and not backups.

My box went rrod on me a while ago, towel trick worked, then I figured that I would replace the xclamps anyways, that worked, then died again, so I did the penny fix and now it just died on me again..

May just end up parting it out and buying a used one (new LiteOn's cannot be modded)...figures this happens when COD comes out :(

Try logging on to xboxlive.com and see if you can log in. I'm not 100% sure that if you log in there and everything still looks good everything will be ok.

you shouldn't lose any points as your gamertag is completely fine.. it's just the console that's forbidden

I sold modern warfare 2 for xbox and picked it up on PC so I could play online again. The graphics are incredible but there are a lot less people online. Not a problem finding a game though.

Fix is junk. You need an unmodded xbox key to work (and) they both can't be on live at the same time. Sucks to ppl that got banned.
