Has a bit of rust but I'm looking for a paint shop that can do this at a proper cost and good job. Probably going to go black or flat black.

I used to have those same rims on my passat. is that and 8v or a 16v? and why bother repainting and fixing the rust on a winterbeater?? I mean unless like the floor or the trunk is going flintstone on you?

Where exactly is it rusting? The bad spots on my golf were just under the rear window and rear plate frame, and some was starting above the windshield before I gave it the boot.
I hope you have no electrical problems, damn VWs.

Funny you say, I have rust in those areas you indicated but the trunk is rust free! Everyone doesn't believe that since the trunk is the bullshit area for these cars lol. No electric issues actually, just a bunch of cracked vac lines, dirty plugs, shitty oil. all of which has been changed..further inspection of timing belt is poop so gonna change that along with water pump belt and pully's . Not hard for this car.
Rust i can correct later in the summer, Ill just work on that as spare time and ready for winter again.. Knowing me ill get carried away..

There is absolutely no way you will see me in a RWD car that just came out sliding around in winter. HAH. I prefer have my dad drive the SUV and I drive something else. I found this car all the way in keswick, It's gonna be a nice toy I suppose. What's the ministry charge these days to get a car on the road. Ive got plates, so sticker, and ownership? Hows taxes work?

Miss my 99 Golf which got stolen last Tuesday :( (recovered on Friday fully gutted).
Lock it up

Really? I'm glad they found it at least. Someone that stole it probably went for parts on there car. Wouldn't be surprised if its on Kijiji now. Luckily i just fixed the central locking to actually work on my key fob.

All that money in your wallet will pay me for new tires :D
Question for the smarty pants:
I bought this car for $800 as I said, Paid cash. Received ownership off the guy that he signed, he left the details blank so that I may write. He also provided a written receipt. He did NOT however provide me a Used Vehicle Package. I was reading online, it is illegal to not provide this package. "11.1 (1) Every person who sells, offers for sale or transfers a used motor vehicle shall provide a valid used vehicle information package in respect of the vehicle for inspection by proposed purchasers or transferees and shall deliver the package to the purchaser or transferee at the time of sale or transfer of the vehicle. 1993, c. 13, s. 1."
Can I demand this package from the seller? what if he denies? can i get my money back because of the fraud?

He is required by law to give you the Used Vehicle Package yes. But I do not believe you will have any problems with that because really for $800 there won't be that many surprises. If it has been in an accident or something went wrong with it... it's not like you are going to want to give it back. Just for something you are driving in the winter. Good luck on getting it and I do not believe there should be an issue. Either way even if you don't get it you got a 1999 Golf for 800$ with 190K on it... not many times you would get something like that.

Demand it from him. Its the law he provides it, for both his and your protection. He may have sold you a car for $800 with a lein for $5000. Without the UVIP, you won't know that. You can transfer the ownership with a lein registered, but then you assume responsibility of the lein.
Even if it seemes like a great deal at $800, it could cost you much more in the end!! If he wrote on the receipt that he guarantees no leins, then you'll be somewhat okay (may take a trip to court) If its about the $20, buy it yourself, and see where you are at. Any leins show, get your money back. If not, forge away!

Just pay for the buyers packege..and be done with it..either way it's to late now that you bought the car..
Every time i sold any of my cars or trucks i told the person who is buying them to go buy it them self...

WANT.
Man, that is a nice MK3. so clean. If you got em, keep em comin..
As for the car and the ministry. This is my understanding on what I need to pay
$10 to transfer plates ( Plates off my first dub)
$20 for Sellers Package ( :complain )
$XX Sales Tax ( I have a receipt but he listed as $500 for taxes, So 65?)
$30 emission test
$75 Safety
$110 Sticker? I'm just guessing on this price.
Thats it for ministry side or what? I dont want surprises honestly.

Pretty close on most, sales tax will be based on the higher of your sale price or the wholesale listed on the UVIP, unless you get an appraisal for taxes. Sticker should be ~$75, depending on your b-day. I can get a safety in Kitchener for $54.... :chuckle
And thats all hoping everything will pass the safety!!
Just be sure to check into the "Lein" on the UVIP before you transfer it into your name, otherwise you will be assuming someone else's debt. And it won't tell you how much, just that there is one. Could be from a bank, could be a personaly claim someone has put against the car. I can't stress this enough to make sure you are lein free if you put it in your name!

Are you tranfering plates from your hyndai to this car? if so then you don't need to buy a sticker unless your birthday is coming up.
In belleville are stickers are only $74...it sucks that where ever your from cost $110.
And are safty checks in Belleville are $50 ...so once again it sucks that it costs $75 from where you are from

If you live in Toronto the sticker is $135.... i know... it's :loco
here's the breakdown:
$75 for the sticker
$60 additional Toronto tax (aka Miller's luxury tax)
even if you go for 2year sticker you still have to pay $120 in additional TO tax
can't wait to move to 'sauga... :)

Its true... Rockwood however has a pretty good garbage system tho. We just pile it into one big ass bag and they take it. Simple.
