View Full Version : Possible to have white DRLs?
Hey guys
just wondering if its possible for our cars to have white drls
i tried the nokya arctic white bulbs but when running as drls low voltage, they look almost the same as stock. It's only white at full voltage.
Are there any bulbs that would actually look white ? I saw on an accord forum that one guy used Eurolite Hyperwhite Xeon 9005

This is his DRLs, which is exactly what I want

anyone have experiance with this bulb, or any other that can do this?

They are called Eurolite's or Super whites.
Next mod sells em, or any "tuner" store will have them.
but im pretty sure since our bulbs share drl and norm light it will always be much dimmer and prolly not look as white as u want.
**Its possible to have any color lights, its not not legal
**(whites okay tho)
ps.
y not just get Hids?
they are much better
n ppl wont make fun of u for having blue bulbs (superwhites)

I think you'll have to go with an LED bulb to be able to get the "white" DRL look you are looking for. Those blue bulbs do help cut back the yellow but they won't be white as DRLs.

i have HIDs, those are for low beams only

would V-LEDs have a set that could be used?

Keep in mind... LEDs aren't go to throw out near as much light as halogens, let alone HIDs.
IMO, if you want white: you would be probably be off putting HIDs in your high beams, disable the DRLs. You could then use something else in place of the DRLs: angel eyes, LED eyebrows, HIDs or LEDs in the fogs, or use switchback bulbs for parking lights and use the parking lights as your DRLs.

I didn't say they would work very well. I would use them more as show.

Yep. You just need a 9005 replacement. Kind of expensive though. http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/DRL-LED/White-LED/2-V-LEDS-HID-WHITE-68-p5679223-1-3.html

Since this member has an '09, he/she can run hids as well as stock DRLs because the DRLs for 07-09 are in the high beams, unlike 04-06.

theres a GB going on for v-leds right now if you want some. i cant remember 100% but im pretty sure youll need a harness also.
ya 60 bucks is kinda expensive for this sort of thing
how do other cars do it? i see mercedes cars and others with white drls

i hate to thread steal here, but whats the point in having HID's in your highbeams, once fired, dont hid's need a certain amount of time to heat up to full intensity, and the amount of time high beams are on, itd almost be pointless. And then you'd be constantly turnng them on and off, which ive heard is bad for HID's. Can someone explain that to me?

Bingo! HIDs as high beams are 100% pointless and a waste of money.

They won't be white when DRLs are on though. The lower rate of power that the DRLs run at causes a yellowish look. You can get those at almost any automotive performance/accessory place

Thats how mine were with my high beam.. But i just unplugged my DLRs lol

I think the easiest way to do this is to install an overlay harness/relay system which will bypass the stock wiring to power the bulbs... all the stock wiring will do then is activate the addon relays... the overlay harness will connect directly to the battery, this will bypass any sort of DRL resistor which is responsible for reduced voltages
this is not advisable on the 07-09 because full power on the high beam DRLs are dangerous and very illegal

welll my high beams arent my drls. i did the fog mod so my fogs are tehcnically and drls. i just wanted to get rid of that ugly yellowish beam for high beam and make it look nice with that blue colour bulb at the same time lol
ya maybe i should invest in fog lights instead...but i havent found aftermarket rectangular fog lights for 07+ models
not a fan of the round style myself
im just curious how lexus/Mercedes cars have it though
