Hi All,

My remote starter was working the other day with no problems. I would hit lock twice on the remote then hit start and everything would work fine. This morning I hit lock twice then start, I heard the doors lock and the system click but the car would not start. The radio came on and all the interior dash boards lights lit up. I checke dthe hood, everything looks good.

Any ideas what may have happend in the 2 days since it was last used?

Forgot to mention. This is a Mazda remote starter for an automatic 3 sedan.

Car in Park/Netural? No beeping? Do you have the system connected to the horn so you could hear the beeps?

Car is in park.

I have the horn beeps.

Everything works properly up to the point where the car is suppose to turnover and start. Head lights come on, radio comes on, dash lights light up and the I hear a click for when the car is suppose to start and nothing happens.

Where do you hear the click? Under the driver's dash or under the hood? Or both? You should hear a click under the driver's dash (and under the hood, but that's not the one that matters unless you can start the car with the key).

Assuming it starts and runs okay with the key, then I would look at the remote start's fuses. The fuses are on the remote start module, you will likely need to remove the lower dash panel on the driver's side to get at the module. Only other thing I can think of is a failed brake switch.. are your brake lights on all the time?

Edit: one more possbility: the problem might be caused by the immobilzer / imobilizer bypass. If it somehow got disconnected then the car won't start. The bypass has a coil of wire around the ignition switch hiding under the steering wheel shroud. I can't recall if the coil plugs into another module that connets to the remote start, or if the coil is plugs directly into the remote start module. Either way the wiring can be checked. You might want to try reprogramming the immobilzer bypass before you take things apart... the instructions are in the remote start manual.

I hear the click in the car, so I am assuming the click in the dash board.

Car starts and runs fine with the key.

No brake light on.

I will check the fuse.

Thanks for the help.

Will check the immobilizer. When you say the car wont start I take it you mean the remote starter will not start the car, not the car will not start all together?

Won't start with remote, key is okay.

One other possibility - check to see if there is a hood lid swith. I just installed a remote starter and the manual shows a switch under your hood that supplies a ground to the remote starter. It is meant to prevent an accidental start if your hood is open. It is just a pressure switch that should not bee too difficult to find.

Hey there,

I have an 06 Mazda3, and am having the exact same issue. Any chance you solved the problem?

A little late in the response, but yes I did fix the problem. You may not believe it, nor do I actually. I cannot remember where exaclty I read it, but all I did was was move the steering wheel around and in and out by using the tilt lever. The forum that I read this in stated that the wiring in the steering column may just need to be moved around. Once I did this, the remote starter worked fine and has been working ever since.
