There have been some negative reviews in the past. However, I have recently had two items done at Lockdown, and was very pleased. The first was some electrical trouble shooting, that others could not figure out the problem source, but Jeff/Lockdown figured out and resolved.
The second was having a trunk popper installed in my '04 Sedan, Jeff & Kristian got that installed and configured with my compustar, and everything was great.
On the flip side, I had Audio Heaven install my Compustar two years ago, and was very impressed with their service.

I've been going there for years and never had a problem. Jeff does good work.

The Problem with Lockdown...it took 10 months for a response

Their promise to resolve

http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=32883&highlight=lockdown

Please note the highlighted...this was their agreement to make things right!

Remember, the entire issue at hand here was a miscommunication over the price of a job, a price which was quoted over the phone.

When posts continue to state that nothing was done for Pimpin 29y, exactly what was expected to be done? He went to another shop to have the work performed, he sent an email to me (CONFIDENTIALLY by the way, he never signed it as being from him) which was responded to, and he posted here to TM3. I didn't see the post until this past Monday, due to my departure from the forum. Once I saw the post I responded and told my side of the story.

My question here is what was expected of me to do in this situation? Pay for the horn installation from the other shop? If thats what it would take to gain back trust from Pimpin29y, then thats what I am willing to do. As stated above and in all of my posts, I VALUE all of my customers and have NEVER left them high and dry. No work with regards to the horn installation was done on the vehicle in question, it was taken to another shop, so how did we leave him high and dry? High and dry to me implys that we performed work and didn't end up completeing it. We NEVER installed anything for Pimpin29y on the day in question.

Again, lets put this issue to bed:

:The installers who were working for the day Pimpin 29y came in are not working for me anymore

:I have responded to the posts about this, and have given an offer to do ANYTHING required of me to make Pimpin29y happy and no longer upset about this.

:I have apologised to the members here who have supported me over the years here for not notifying them of my departure from the boards. I want everyone to know though I departed due to what I saw and foresaw was a price war coming to the table on services offered by my business and competeing businesses on the forum, and price wars only hurt businesses. Price wars help consumers, but consumers MUST realise that a business is in business to make money, so that the employees and owners of the business can make a living.

Lockdown Security

My response, again please note the highlighted...

Since my peers have chosen to lock this thread in the interest of keeping things civil I'll keep this post short and sweet.

FACT: I have NEVER been contacted by Lockdown for a resolution nor apology. The offer was presented ONLY publicly IMO to humor the masses.

I will accept the offer for the sake of TM3 and will leave this for now on my end.

I have no interest in the $60, *Or anything else for that matter from Lockdown* send payment to TM3.
(You have been a sponsor before and you know how to send the money.)

I will use this $60 to donate 3 TM3 Plate Covers to random members at the next meet I attend.

It has now been 7 months since Lockdown has agreed to "Make things right" with his offer to reimburse. I have kept my end of the bargain by donating 3 TM3 plates to members.

PLEASE NOTE: TM3 HAS NOT RECIEVED A SINGLE PENNY FROM LOCKDOWN REGARDING THIS MATTER!

AGAIN this unresponsiveness and lack of commitment shows how much they care.

I strongly recommend getting installations done by establishments which will stand by their work and respect their customers... As mentioned Audio Heaven is a sponsor on our board who can do the installations which you have requested.

That was from the past. Maybe they "woke up" ard realized that one bad experience with a customer can cost them many. So I am pretty sure they are better now.

Of course they will be nice on the phone after all they need your business.

Maybe they are better now...maybe not.

The question is whether it is worth taking the risk. After all it's your money and your car.

I would rather go to a place where the reviews are positive, they have a stake in the club where I belong and a place where their warranty, pricing and service will stand with credibility.

I've never had any issues with Jeff's shop. Not sure why Pimpin_29y is always going out of his way to bad mouth Lockdown. Jeff stands behind his work and Does clean installs. He is also the only one working on your car these days.

Also, the thread Pimpin is referencing was locked from further posts and Pimpin (who IMO abused his mod privs) unlocked it to get the last word in. Jeff was never able to respond to the above thread... And pimpin wouldn't have said what he did in the thread without his mod powers... (nothing aganst u pimpin, but I think ur taking it too far)

ps: pimpin didn't actually get the work done at lockdown so im not sure why he's complaining about Jeff's shop...

A)The thead was locked by my peers and not myself. I have NEVER unlocked any threads which were locked to get the last word in, get your facts straight before making accusations. Mods can post on locked threads, I had ended it on a good note accepting Jeffs offer futhermore I had accepted the offer to contribute to the TM3 community.

B)I had accepted Jeffs offer for reimbursement and have agreed to let the issue drop, I have kept my word by donating the 3 plates as promised

C)7 months have passed and Jeff has not kept his end of the bargain which he announced publicly

The issue was dropped with the notion that Jeff would make things right. The last note regarding this matter was he would correct the matter...he didn't. Now that someone has asked for thoughts on Lockdown I am not allowed to share that he did not keep his end of the bargain and not is as credible as posted??

I've been going to Lockdown for 8+ years. Had plenty of work done there to my cars, my wife's, and my bro's; we've never had problems with Jeff, his quality, or communication. There used to be an @ss that worked there, but he's gone now.

I don't discount the feedback from Pimpin 29y, because there certainly does seem to be some issues that happened there. So, OP, take all of our feedback for what it is and make up your own mind.

hey iam thinking of getting my alarm/starter at lockdown, any reviews on this shop?? positive negative? , i heard there were sponsor here a while back

I made the trip on Saturday morning to get a Compustar alarm/starter install on my hatch and chose Lockdown based on quotes from Jeff and 4 other places most of them forum sponsors, also couple of people recommended them, although I was well aware of Pimpin experience I decided to try them out.

He was very straight forward since the fist day I contacted him, answered all my questions without leaving anything behind and accommodated me when it was best for me, as for the day of the install, I got there and he started working on my car at the time we arranged, I was out of the there 30 min earlier than the time I supposed to which was great cause I was crossing the border that day, besides he answered all my questions and explain everything to me, his crew seemed very good too and I can say he was the only one receiving the money from costumers and doing invoices, he also charged me what he previously asked for this job.

The only thing I can tell you is each person base their opinion on their own experience but it doesn't mean that it has to be that way, as for me getting my alarm/starter installed there and the drive from Burlington was well worth it.

thanks everyone for giving me your input, i will review the sponsors on this forum and base my dicisons on a few things,

1) They Must be an autorized dealer of the alarm/starter

2) the attension given to me as a customer during a phone call, ex, do they want to make a sale or are not interested in meeting competitor pricing,

3)fair pricing for both of us,

4) keeping their promise

5) aftersales support, ex warranty period.

again thanks for all ur help , i'll review the other 3 places that do alarm/starters on MOT, I believe they are selective sound, audio heaven and autolinks, if there are other
