Hi guys, before everyone flames me, I've literally spent 2 days reading just about every work around for the DRL HID problem for my 2005 mazda 3. I've come to the conclusion that I want to run the HID kit I ordered with a relay harness and a capacitor (anti-flicker). This seems to be the least intrusive into the factory wiring. The HID kit I ordered should be arriving within the next few days, but I'm curious as to where I could buy the relay / anti-flicker harness. I live in Oakville and work in Mississauga.

Been checking around the boards for a while now and I must say this place has given me a wealth of information,

Thanks in advance,
Adam

I know that Chris (YearOfTheRat) has been this. Try sending him a PM or wait until he sees his thread. He can help you out.

This is the thread on it. http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=34422

They were extremely easy to install. Definitely get Chris's opinion on them.

I got the antiflicker cap from xtremeproducts.ca last year but not sure if they still exist. Their web address has changed. Chris and I got it from the same place. Try ebay also. As for the relay, the harness and the relay can be bought with your HID kit. Check with the place from where you ordered the HID kit.

Like mazdathree, I've been running the anti-flicker caps since July and have had no issues with them.
XtremeProducts can be reached @ sales@xtremeproducts.ca and are based out of Bramptom.

i thought this was DRL solutions but are you asking about the DRLs or about relays and anti-flicker? you can get relays even at crappy tire.

The OP is concerned with both but the bigger question is about the DRL flicker you get with 04-06 DRLs. Instead of disabling them or rewiring them, you can use these to, in a sense, clean up the pulsed DRL signal to a steady signal. Basically they work in-line and keep the DRLs functional.

is there a flicker/DRL issue with the 2008 Mazda'3s, or an I just buy any old HID Kit (looking at hidextra.com's Xmas special) and run those without anything extra?

07-09 don't use the low-beams for DRLs, they use the high-beams so you are fine.

Thanks for the quick reply! I really appreciate the help.

Do you, by any odd chance, know if the HidExtra.com kit comes with appropriate spacers for the H7 low beam bulbs?

Thanks!

Sorry, no I don't. I would buy from our sponsors anyway.

Just as an update for those who are in the same boat as me, I think I found a good solution. I picked up a 10 000 mf capacitor from Sayal electronics in burlington. I wired this into my relay harness. The positive side I spliced into the signal wire (low beam harness +) and the negative I spliced into the ground. The capacitor smooths out the choppy 12v signal and allows the relay to remain open. I have HID as my DRL which was my goal and still use the auto function with no other nonsense.

PM if you need specific instructions,

Adam
