I’m looking to get a refund for a netbook that I purchased. Here’s my story.

I bought a Lenovo ideaPad S10-2 in September and in October I had to send it in for repair for a cracked screen (plastic casing). Lenovo warranty received it Oct 21, 09. Expected fixed date was November 7, then got pushed to the 13th then got pushed to the 20th ……….As you can see Lenovo has had the product longer than I have, at this point I don’t want it anymore (I wasn’t even offered a replacement) I just want my money back because they can’t tell me when it can be fixed and I’ve had a lot of phones calls to their tech support and I’m getting nowhere. They have escalated it to customer relations and they were suppose to get back to me 5-7 business days, it’s the 10th day and nobody has returned my calls. All I want is my money back.

I spent about 6months+ chasing them down and even after finally getting it escalated to upper management levels not a whole lot came of it.

Lenovo used to be great, which is why I went with them, but I soon learned that the key in that statement is *used to be*.

The IBM product, and it's associated support was wonderful. When Lenovo took the reins a few years ago, they drove it into the ground.

In essence, the great home computing program IBM had was costing them too much, and Lenovo was looking to make a quick buck... so they changed hands for some cash.

I've worked with every thinkpad/thinkcentre/netcentre since the early Pentium 2 days, and I can safely say that it's gone to the s*itters.

IBM owns less than 5% of Lenovo, according to Wiki

I have worked with and for IBM & Lenovo, as a client & employee. You can't compare a home product support to that of a business product. Take equivalent systems from Dell, Lenovo, HP, and you will get similar support.
Did IBM/Lenovo support used to be better? Yes, but most consumers and businesses decided they were no longer willing to pay a premium for that support, and forced Lenovo to alter it's support.
If you still want premium level support, you can buy it, but don't expect it for free.

Can't argue that Lenovo support is bad, but in comparison, it's rather average. I worked for both, Lenovo and HP and statistically, i can't say that Lenovo is worse.
There's a reason why even HP employees call the tech-support line 1-800-GET-LOST.
