It's as if the wheels will snap at the axel. The cleanest and proper flush has to be the nextmod 3. If you are trying to run oversized offsets then needing spacers, Just hope you don't break an axel or replace bearings.

Trying to figure out if I should run 5 or 10mm spacers.

Specs right now: 17x8/9 +45 all around. Tires are 215/45/17. Fenders will be rolled. Am I going to have a hell of a time rubbing with 45 profile tires if I go with 10mm spacers (natural camber)?

My car? It's not that bad. The most scracthed up things under my car is the little guard above on the AC compressor and my pinch welds (which take most of the beating). My exhaust has a bit of damage (mostly because it is bent upwards from a train track)

Yeah you're likely right, the axle probably wouldn't snap instantly. It's still a risk though. Like you said, there are always two sides to the story, good to know that there are guys who actually take precautions to prevent damage/danger when lowering their cars.

It's just a piss off when guys do things half ass'd... But what do I know, I've got 4x4 status :P

For the axles to have ground such significant portions of the frame away (as much as most VW folks get "notched" the right way) they must be in contact with it pretty often. They will fail eventually, or at least the joints at the ends will.

I know MotoIQ's point of view, they are definitely more function than form guys, so I read the article as at least a bit tongue-in-cheek i.e. they know not EVERYONE drives their cars like this, but the cheap-ass idiots sure do.

love the stance of the white one, but I really cant stand multi-pattern rims, especially without center caps. Perhaps I'm just a wheel snoot, but theres something really offputting about having 5 empty useless holes and being able to see the rusty hub. Do you have the caps and just didnt install them or did they actually sell without them?? Other than me being picky about the wheels, it;s just about perfect.

its no lower with the skid plate. the skid plate is just metal in a u shape that stops it from scraping the plastic down.

you should try using UHMW, Delrin or a similar polyethylene based polymer for your lip guard....it'll be lighter, thinner and less sparky than steel.
