Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has had any issues before with the door ajar light not turning off and the map and dome lights staying on? I have checked all doors, hood, trunk and gas doors. I can't seem to find the door sensors on our cars. I am assuming it could be the cold weather we have tonight. Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks!

Not sure if it's going to be the same. But I had this problem once with my Camry. Something about the pressure plate (I think) coming a bit loose. The door still closed no problem, but it was just high enough that it didn't register the door closed from the sensor. When we took it into Toyota (in case it was a bigger problem), I think they just tightened a few screws and sent us on our way. Maybe something like that? If it works the same way.

Sucked at the time since when it happened, it was on the way back from Columbus, Ohio so lots of highway driving seeing that light on.

Door switch is built into the latch.. it is not a separate sensor.

Opening and closing the door a few times should solve the problem... which I believe is caused by the cold=thick lubriant either not allowing the switch to move or is in the contacts and is not been squeeze out of the way when they close.

My turn signals had a similar problem this morning... they would work fine if I just tapped the stalk, but if I pushed the stalk until it latched the signals wouldn't stay on. I cycled the thing a couple of times and it was fine.

awesome thanks for the replies guys, the light went off halfway through my drive home to Milton from Mississauga...I guess the heater on full blast when i was driving home helped a bit :bang. I'm going to see a dealer if this keeps happening though, I'd hate to wake up to a dead battery if the interior lights were left on overnight

if the lights aren't going out maybe take the bulbs out or disconnect the battery.

try the wire harness clamps behind the fuse box under passenger side. i found one of mine unhooked. re-clamped it and now everything is fine. i suspect our sons foot must of unhooked it as we have our cover off. it was the one on the right. hope this helps!!

I have the same problem. My light for my door open on the dash won't turn off. I was told to change the locking mechanism in the driver door, but that did not fix the problem. Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Get a light penetrant fluid and spray all your door lock mechanisms heavily. If it starts acting up again, just turn your interior light switch to off, so you don't find your battery drained one morning.
