Went to see it and it's quite impressive.

Most of the CG effects looks very realistic and believable.

*Scratches Head*

Stupid question, but there is a story comic / anime with the same title.

Is this what they based it on?

Just watched the midnight screening of it in Real 3-D at Colossus in Vaughn..Didn't know Colossus had RealD 3D also - we saw it there in IMAX 3D which is a competing 3D standard.

While the movie itself was great, I was kind of disappointed with IMAX 3D. IMAX is always very cool with the big screen and all. But with IMAX 3D, I found there to be a lot of blurriness with any motion and the 3D effect was easily messed up if you weren't watching at a specific angle.

See here (http://news.cnet.com/crave/?keyword=Real+D) for a comparison of the various 3D movie technologies.

Watched it in Digital 3D, looks alright because I had nothing to compare to. You get the 3D glasses that wear, looks like it's meant to show only certain angles of the film one for each eye. I find that the 3D images look like the cutouts from the pup-up books.

In the Avatar movie, the 3D effect does a decent job, it puts things in different perpective foreground and background, etc... nothing mind blowing. The best time when this 3D effects shows through is when Jake and Neytiri are walking through the forest of Pandora at night.

Saw Avatar on Friday at the IMAX in Woodbridge, saw it in 3D. Really good visual effects, but the story was lacking at times. It reminded me a lot of a PC Game from way back in the day on Windows 95 called Mechwarrior.

Saw it yesterday, really enjoyed it. The story's sooo predictable (I feel like I've seen that concept many times) but it's a good story and still very enjoyable to watch. I'm not usually sucked in by super-special-effects movies that have more style than substance but this had more depth than most Hollywood crap.

i loved it.

yes the story was a but predictable, but as was said it is a story most like hearing, at least in movies anyways.

the bad guy was the toughest mofo around, lol.

i haven't been this satisfied with a movie in many many years.

for those who saw the movie in 3D, just read in the paper that 3D movies might cause headaches, nausea, motion sickness with some viewers, has this happened to you?

watched it and did not experience any of those, but that just could be me you could always try it out and if you feel like that within the first 20min of the movie you can get your money back( well at least at silver city in Ancaster)
