the guy is smoking crack if he actually thinks that car is worth that much money you take the 2 off the front and then you're talking about the realm of possibility, especially for the automatic, those auto tranny's were junk back then I think they were 3+ overdrive only??? If it was the one year of that body style where they made a twin turbo that would be a different story

If it was the original Datsun 240Z from the 70s then it would be worth it.

So basically, wait 16 more years and then it'll be worth it.

i laugh at all automatics!

some of the fastest accelerating cars on earth use 2 and 3 speed automatics... nothing to laugh at.. in fact in many cases your at a disadvantage when drag racing fast cars without one.

(and by fast i mean none of the grocery getters on this site:chuckle)

If everything works - this car is awesome

my old 86 was wicked for what it was.
Digital dash, edfc, 7-way lumber support leathers, 5-spd with cruise, ice cold freon AC. She even talked - "fuel is low" "door is open"

200hp for an 86 - it was a corvette killer. PLUS no goveners

Sold it for 600 plus a half-Q for my wedding LOL

perhaps I should refrase my statement, I Laugh at all non production, non streetable automatic applications! Plus I thought most drag cars used a clutchles transmission with different levers for each gear? I don't think those can be considered, true manuals or automatics. Besides after a 1/4 of a mile that thing will be out of gas and I'd like to see one of those nitro burning funny cars do a turn at more than 2mph!

But Celicas are for little girls. :chuckle

IMO, something like this shouldn't be looked at in a "performance tuner boy" aspect per say but more as a collector car which will one day be a real classic. Automatic or not, if everything works, the mileage is what it is, and the condition is immaculate then it COULD be worth that amount or even more as it ages (especially with that kind of mileage).

Just because we have better things to spend our money on doesn't mean the car is a rip off. You're pretty much literally buying a brand new 1986 Nissan 300ZX.

EDIT: ehhhhhhhh thinking it over, $27K atm is probably too much. If it's in that condition in another 10 years then maybe. :chuckle ... but my opinion stated on cars becoming classics and one day rising in value stands! lolol

Ugh, I need to go to bed.

27K is too high. For sure for a collector that is wicked... but its automatic which kind of defeats the purpose for me. If it was 5 spd then maybe it would be more worth it for me.

I still think it's a great car
for 20k on the road...maybe - 27k NFW (unless it was the 88 Limited Shiro Edition model.)

I agree with "collector vs tuner" car statement.
This car is getting rarer by the day, hence the price.

Nowadays - 27G's can get you almost any used car on the road. But then again, it'll be just another used car.

A Basic shift kit and converter is all that is needed to beat up on most Manual transmission cars.. still very very streetable...

Yes most auto's from the factory are slushboxes but the majority found in muscle cars are usually not left stock.. they are faster to shift, cheaper to build, less prone to breaking drivetrain parts and more consistant than a manual trans.
