I picked up my new 2010 Mazda3 and everything seems to be ok except sometimes when I'm in Neutral at a stoplight and go into 1st gear. This has happened about twice in 2 days. I've attempted to put the stick into 1st gear but I think it gets stuck in between because when I release the clutch and press the gas the car doesn't move. I then have to go back into Neutral and then into 1st gear.
Does anyone know what's going on?

Hey guys, I called the Mazda Service and they said to bring it in because this should definitely not be happening and they will have a look at it. If anyone else has this issue I suggest you do the same.

thanks, keep us updated
2010 GS here.
I'm having the exact same issue you described. It happens couple times a day. I had to shift down to 2nd and back up to 1st to get around. Simply shift back to neutral then move up to 1st doesn't do it for me.
Any updates on your issue Colin? I will mention this issue when i take it to the dealership for the first oil change.

Mines done it since day 1 (1.5 years ago). Usually does it, if you are rolling slightly after slowing down.

I've had this happen before as well. It has to do with the synchros not meshing properly. I assume this is usually when the car is rolling? Try double clutching (shift to neutral, release clutch, put clutch back in, and shift to first).
Just throw the car into 1st JUST before you come to a stop... My old car used to do this, so I just do it out of habit and I never have a problem...
Yeah I assume mazda is going to look at it and tell you they cant find an issue..from talking to everyone that has a '10 manual - this is a very common issue. It seems to be just one of those things.

Easy way to put it into first if it's sticking --- Put it into 2nd and then go to first. I will slide right in with no issues.
