have a 2007 Mazda 3 GS 5 speed manual.
Just noticed a " humming " noise from the fuel pump. Can hear the noise from the interior of car.
It is comming from the fuel pump because when you first turn the key you get the pump running mometarily till fuel pressure reaches pressure setting
First noticed this after car would not crank yesterday- started today and this new noise noticed, prior to this time car operated normally with no pump noise
Any comments appreciated

So when you turn your key to power on, right before it starts cranking over. You can hear a humming noise? Its normal to hear that for about 2-3 seconds. But does it go off at some point?

You'll notice the noise more the lower you are on fuel. Should toss some gas in, and some fuel system cleaner if you think you problem was gas related. Its been cold, and any water (for some odd reason) got into the pump, lines or injectors could of froze a small blockage. But im sure that has worked through by now if it did start up.

Yes the pump does stop after a few seconds- after it has reached the preset pressure. Not worried about that. Of what is concern is the fact that with the engine running I am now hearing a fairly loud " hum " coming from the pump- never heard that noise previously. With the engine idling it is quite noticeable in the interior. As stated the car refused to turn over on the previous day. Battery was good but no power to the starter. Today it started no problem. I believe with this problem there was a Service bulletin regarding " engine will not crank and engine does not start - intermittently '.
Since it started today I now have a hum from the fuel pump.
Thanks
