I've owned my Mazda 3 for just over 3 months now (bought used 2006) and I can't seem to get my right leg comfortable it all - it always feels like the seat is pushing up against it, and after about 40 minutes of driving it actually hurts.
Has anyone else had this? If so, possible solutions? Or was I just pampered by 80s Volvo seats >.<

I'm more comfortable with the seat cushion all the way down instead of having it higher... the 3's seat adjustments suck, you can only raise, recline, move it forward/backwards, and lumber... but you cannot tilt the cushion! my protege can do all that but adjust lumber (who cares)
No idea how to help, you've adjusted all setting of the steering wheel and seat?
If you're driving with your wallet in your back pocket, take it out to help circulation maybe.

I use a cheap wedged (i.e. triangular shaped) cushion and I no longer experience leg discomfort for long 3+ hour drives. And yes, the car's seat is in the lowest position.

hahahha, I can empathize with you... I get the right leg cramp after about 3 hours of straight driving. I think it's just the way some people apply pressure to the gas pedal trying to keep a consistent speed. Cruise control would be a luxury to have on those long trips :chuckle

I am not to sure if they have the lumbar in them if they do its possible only the GT's have that feature. Its like the previous gens the hight adjustment was only available on the GS/GT seats and not on the GX models

IMO, nobody is missing anything by not having those adjustments... they're pretty lame compared to the tilt and height adjustment the protege has... plus MUCH better quality cloth and seat design in the protege (for people not big boned)

ask YOTR how he fits in his 3 and not have a leg cramp. So far I'm using leather and find the head support is not as good but the lumbar support and my legs sometimes get cramps but I stretch it out internally =)

True, true, he is at least 7 feet tall and still growing at last check. :chuckle

If you've got really long legs the Mazda 3 might just not be the car for you. I'm 6'4" and I have the seat down as low as it will go and back nearly as far as it will go for it to be comfortable. If you're much bigger than that you might be better off with a bigger car. Being uncomfortable all the time while driving isn't any fun.

I have the same problem, I find my leg is actually falling asleep, and not necessarily on long drives either, my drive to work is only about 20 minutes, and even sometimes my leg starts to fall asleep then, I have the crappy cloth seats and I find them ridiculously:chuckle hard. I've tried every seat position imaginable, pumped up to the ceiling and way down to the floor, way up close and way far back and everything in between, I can't stretch my right leg out too much though or I seem to have trouble reaching the clutch pedal. I'm only 5'5", and 125lbs... So I don't think it's an issue with being a taller person... Maybe I just need to buy a set of leathers to put in and I'll be set. ;)

I'm 6'3 and no issues with comfort...Mazda 3 is MUCH more comfortable in comparison to others in its class.

I have never had *any* issues with my seats other than with lateral support when at the track (i.e. I may slide/shift a bit). I find them very comfortable and have spent the better part of 12+ hours sitting in the drivers seat in a day on multiple occasions and have never experienced any discomfort issues. As mentioned, they are far more comfortable than many other options in the class and having driven many, many cars, vans and trucks of all luxury levels I can confirm that our seats are quite comfy and supportive compared to a lot of other stuff out there.

It took me a while to get all the settings correct. I have the GS - seat all the way down, steering wheel extended all the way out and lowered enough that I can read the top of the speedometer. Does the trick for me - that and using cruise control:)
I don't see what the difference between a leather and cloth seat would be - they are the same seats, just covered in different materials...

I don't see it either. I don't think the leather has more cushion or bolstering or maybe different type of foam, I doubt Mazda would go to all these lengths just for leather seats.
Personally I'm more comfortable in my Mazda than I was in my 95 Accord. For its class it is actually pretty good. Corolla on the other hand was very uncomfortable to me. I just could not find a proper position.
Some people will be uncomfortable, that's life and if there is nothing that can be improved, change the car and make sure that this time the car fits you by doing some test drives.
I would even suggest renting the car you want to buy and take a longer tip.

^^ or you could change out the seat - maybe one from a CX9? or RX8? I'm sure it's been done by someone somewhere....

Maybe you just need to add a little extra 'junk in your trunk'.
Extra padding always helps, lessen the uh, harshness of the ride. :chuckle

^ Tim you're bad :chuckle
Anyways, I'm a 6'1'' female and I have had no issues with the car and the seat position. During really long trips I might start to get a little bit of a cramp in my leg but most of the time I am fine.
I do a 50 minute commute (one way) to work almost daily with no issue.

I'm just shy of 6' and I find the M3 is much more comfortable in terms of my legs than our Nissan Xtrail. But our X is more comfortable in every other way.

The 2010 speed 3 have more adjustment including seat tilt. Maybe you can find a retrofit of that seat somehow. Since i am moving my legs around during my drive I don't really find they get tired.

are you having leg pains? or as you say your legs are just "falling asleep".
i was dealing with sciatic pain for months. 10 minutes into my drive, pain would run down fr my butt to the back of my legs all the way down to my calves. went for x-ray, mri (thinking its a slip disc). all turned out negative. my chiro applied active release techniques but tht didnt help much. anyway after months of this my chiro went to take a look at my car seat. immedietely he said its the car seat. (the horizontal seams is the culprit) my sciatic nerve is seated right on it which causes it to get irritated and inflammed causing the pain. he told me to buy a cushion to "even out " the seat. i bought one of those seat beads fr Canadian Tire. Pain is Gone! Im almost the same height as you....you may want to check tht out.
