My gf's neighbour leaves his GTR parked outside all year round. In the summer it's not even on the driveway, it's out on the curb.

Her other neighbour leaves their ISF outside all year round...

GT-R shouldn't be driven in the winter cuz its not designed for it what so ever. if you can afford the car you should be able to afford another car for the winter.

by the way your cars are so sick!

Thats your opinion but doesn't mean it's the truth! Why wouldn't a car be designed for winter use? :loco

the gt-r is AWD so it does a hell of alot better than most cars on the road in the snow, not to mention those brakes are bigger than my rims they have to contribute some how lol. all it needs are winter rubber.

i gotta snap a pic of a white R8 in my neighbourhood thats driven daily.

Thats your opinion but doesn't mean it's the truth! Why wouldn't a car be designed for winter use? :loco

well the rims and tires are way too wide you would just glide on top of the snow even if you were to get smaller rims and tires for it they would still be too wide. its not an opinion it is the truth. it is not designed for winter use, its designed for performance. you think when they were making this car they were thinking of winter use? just cuz you can drive it in the winter doesn't mean it is meant to do so. even with the AWD yes it helps, but its still meant for traction not for plowing snow, i didn't say it cant be driven im saying its not meant for it. i think thats completly obvious when it comes to any performance car like that.

"With all-wheel-drive and the optional winter-tire package, the GT-R can be a four-season sports car. Except there is no option for ski or bike racks, which would diminish the car's aerodynamic slipperiness."

Rob23
01-11-2010, 04:03 PM
again, i didn't say it was impossible, but its a sports car, you could put winters on a firarri and get through the snow. but it is a dumb idea.

cereal83
01-11-2010, 04:55 PM
Dumb idea to you again as it's your opinion but it doesn't make it right. I can't think of a better car for winter then a R8. The balance and awd make it perfect

Dave_The_BMXER
01-11-2010, 06:48 PM
Not to drag this more off topic but I agree with cereal here in your opinion it's a dumb idea but in reality both the r8 and GTR are more than capable in the snow.

I figure the GTR owner wanted to enjoy his car year round and is doing so kind of like this guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPXhOslFvuQ&feature=player_embedded).

To contribute I saw this in the fall 80s pimpin

traction is traction, traction on gravel, snow, concrete or pavement! AWD and the right tires and a person who knows how to drive you can take any car into winter in any "Urban" situation. These are all cars we are talking about not SUV's or 4x4 trucks. But when they built the porche 959 what do you think the first thing they did with it, they took it rallye racing and amongst some of the races it won was the paris dakar rally. A subby STI isn't a performance car? that thing lives in snow.

I've said this before and i'll say it again, in winter I want the car that has the best performance, because that's when I need it the most when the conditions are at their worst! when some guy in his "winter beater" can't stop at a light and comes ready to T-bone you what would you rather try to swerve to avoid him in? some piece of crap, or an awd performance car that can do the slolom at warp speeds?

There nothing wrong driving a GT-R during winter, even though its a $100,000 car, the car is very capable of doing 4 seasons. It maybe a "GT-R" its no Ferrari or lambo that you would pamper in garages only and never come out till sun shines.

Rob23
01-18-2010, 01:15 AM
yes i realize i was wrong about the GTR, it can be driven in winter as it has many differant "traction modes" that you can change from the dash, one being "snow" but its still only like 3-4 inchs off the ground you'd have to wait this the streets are plowed at least. and its only 80 grand not 100.

Cars are meant to be driven!! Met a guy in Vancouver when I was visiting the Lambo dealership with my son - he had his car in for service and had winter tires and all for it - it was his primary car all year. Of course, Vancouver gets more rain than snow, but he used the car to get to his place in Whistler during the ski season!!

Nothing wrong with driving a GTR in winter...like mentioned above, cars are meant to be driven.

Also, I think a lot of us here have 3-4 inch clearance or even less for some members and we drive it all year round. Don't see a big problem there, drive carefully.

I need to get a pic of where my brother's Stang (yellow one) is in storage right now... :chuckle

Storage contains:

1967 Mustang (bro's)
1969 Barracuda with 383 4spd (our buddy's)
1974 Challenger w/360 4spd ( buddy's bro's, his storage as well...complete body off resto, can eat off this one's floor!!)
1968 Z28 (haven't seen this yet, would like to!)
1987 Grand National (buddy's parent's, 35,000 original kms)
Empty Spot (mine was supposed to go there.... :bang)

And the buddy's bro has a 1972 Challenger he is restoring now to add to it!
My other bro unfortunately drives his 2007 Mustang GT Califirnia Special Convertible in the snow.... :loco Otherwise it might be in there too!
