Need Help.
For the last few days my battery light on the dash keeps flickering on & off when my foot is off the gas & when I'm just idling in traffic.
Now this morning my check engine light is on.
I'm having no issues with performance & drives the same.

Sounds like broken wires on your MAF connector.

MAF connector. That would be where in the engine bay.

MAF connector. That would be where in the engine bay.
Front driver side near the headlight.
It's a box with a big rubber tube running out of it.
Has a wiring harness that clips in to it.
Let your car idle and move that harness around, see if it causes the motor to change at all.

MAF connector. That would be where in the engine bay.
It's attached to the intake. The black piece on top of the tubing of this short ram intake.

some minor things to look for
check for corroded battery terminals...any green, etc on them....
if you know anybody with a handheld battery tester, get em to check it for you...it takes a few seconds, jus to rule out any problems with your battery
get a member with a code reader to retrieve your engine code, and go from there

If this is on your 2008 would it not be covered under warranty?

Yes. But I wanted to see if it was a simple thing that I can fix before I call & book an appointment.

I call alternator belt.... slipping/stretched. Not too sure how the MAF would be related to the battery light coming on! But hey, OBDII systems, you never know!

My MAF wires broke 2 times in less than a year and every time the battery light indicator would go on and off.

at least on late model mazdas, the alternator doesn't have an internal regulator... it is all done through the ECU... so because the MAF has the air temp sensor, the ECU calculates the charge voltage based on that on top of load and stuff like that
on some proteges that had a separate IAT sensor, a damaged or disconnect sensor will cause the charge light to come on much like broken MAF wires on the 3 would

I just fixed a car lik this It was giving me engine code P0101 Output maff sensor circuit high. Battery light was on and every time theengine light cleared the battery light went out. I found 3 bad wires and the maf was shot. This was an 06 mazda 3. Car was fine for a month and now engine light is back on with a new code P0103 Input maff sensor circuit high. Havent had time to look in to it yet

It must have something to do with MAF Sensor. I'm still waiting on the dealership to call me back as to what the issue was & when I can have my car back.

Like stated above it does in deed have everything to do with the fact that it won't see any signal at all from the MADD. If the wire hadn't popped out you would have just had a engine ligh but because the wire is out it doesn't see any signal triggering the battery and engine light.

I had that cel code before and found out that 2 wires popped out. I rewired it and it disappeared.

Well it turns out one of the many wires had snap/broke from the MAF connector & the alternator had to be replaced. I should have my car back sometime today. I'm glad it wasn't anything major.
Thanks for everyones help on this one.

I called it. Did you get a new one or a rebuilt one?
McGuyver_3

The dealer is shaftung you if you are bot under warranty I highly doubt that alternator is gone simply because I had that car with the same problem. If under warranty they are changing it probably to keep busy. I really doubt that alternator is gone
