Has anyone experienced the problem with a vibration while driving at 100 km/h? I have started to noticed this recently while driving down the highway or anywhere that I can reach that speed.

Is there any way it could be the engine mounts that need to be replaced?

Thanks for any input.

Maybe time to get the tires balanced?

hahaha, WOW that's a pretty expensive fix for a little bit of vibration :chuckle

I bet you googled it and a bunch of crap about engine mounts came up... hahah this is why when you're sick, you should NEVER EVER google your symptoms. You'll scare the bejeesuz out of yourself from the shit you find online.

Wheels > Balance > No more vibration > Problem solved! :)

Tire balance is the most likely cause. As well, make sure the lug nuts are all tight.

I suggest r4BBiT if you're still having problems, take it back or see one of the Tire sponsors here. I can guarantee you that they know how to balance tires or they wouldn't be a sponsor here with possitive feedback.

Urbanjoe, get the wheels checked out first before you look at the engine mounts.

Start with the balance and check the rims to see if they are bent. If it still does it go for an alignment.

I just had winters put on so the rims are new and the tires were balanced, although I could use an alignment. I'll try that out and go from there. Makes more sense then spending all that money on the engine mounts lol.

->Mazdabetty, I know its expensive , thats why I never mentions I was going to fix it, but rather looking for a solution lol :p

Thanks everyone!

To be honest, I would think any aftermarket mounts would just make vibrations worse because they are stiffer than the stock ones.

Do you park your car outside? If you do see if you have ice/snow stuck in suspension area. I park my car outside most of the time and one time last year every time I went over 90km/h the car was vibrating so much I had to pull over. I had lots of snow/ice stuck in spring/ suspension area, had to hit it all out.

And then no more vibrating.

Yes, I do park it outside. That could be the problem considering I drive down a snowy highway everyday during the winter. Ill take a look today before I leave

Thanks

I dont think they are bent, unless they were bent from new, since it was like that since new, about 2 months ago. I did get them from Tires23 and living in Waterloo I don't want to drive all the way back to get them rebalanced. About 3 weeks after installing them I did go to local tire shop and get them rebalanced, got little better, but still there.

I gotta check the ice/snow stuff as well since I park outside, but I do wash my car pretty often.

I went to Stevenson's Steering in Oshawa. It cost me $12 for balancing. :)

Seems better at low speeds. I haven't gone the any 400 series yet so I'm not sure if it correct the vibration while driving at higher speeds.
I plan to bring it back in for a alignment and hopefully that will help out even more.
For $12 you cant really go wrong lol.

Jason, were you at Dan's a few weeks ago with the silver Mazda?

i had that problem a few times too. pulled over and even though it didnt look like there was ice or snow i scraped the inside of all 4 rims and took off and it was fine.

right now it shakes a bit at 100km/h but thats due to balancing and the rims are damaged and the dealer was just able to balance them. there is 2 layers of weights on one of my rims due to the damage.

from what youre saying if you have gone a few times for balancing id say you have a bent rim. dont take much to unbalance it. you should ask them if they had any issues with balancing them. they would know if one is bent

More than likely a tire balance issue. From past experience, 100km/h seems to be the speed when you feel vibrations when your tires are out of balance.

That is the exact problem. The guys from the shop told me the rear left tire and front left have a little distortion in them. Nothing I can really do unless I want to go on a wild chase and find two perfect rims. Which isn't worth it for a pair of winter rims lol.

Would getting an alignment help any?

The yoko tires are garbage. They tire compound changes in extreme heat causing an imbalance. This is an issue with the stock yoko tires.....of course Mazda will not admit this. Spoke to a yoka rep in the USA.
