Is there a reason why I'm not able to shift into Reverse after starting the car? I find I always have to go into another gear first before being able to get into Reverse after turning the car on... Is this normal?

I did some research and I guess it's because there's no synchro in Reverse.
Thanks.

Many of us who've switched to synthetic transmission fluid notice it is easier to engage reverse, especially when it gets down to or below freezing.

i hate this, i always worried that if the world was being destroyed by monsters/aliens/godzilla or the earth was sinking in in my area or or even if i was in a race for lots and lots of money or it was a timed even and if i lose my g/f/any person close to me would be put to death...if i could get the car in reverse fast enough of if it would jam up and i would die or some 1 else..
That being said i learned that if its not going in put it into 1st and than quickly put it into Reverse that usually does the trick for me. (just dont jam/force it obviously)

I noticed that if you step on the brakes, then step on the clutch, it is easier to engage reverse, as compared to stepping on the clutch and then the brakes.
