Hi There...
What looks the best on that model. I take delivery of my car in mid March and I was hoping to buy new Rims/Tires for my car and put the ones that comes with mine on the wife's new 2010 GS in Celestial Blue Mica.
RX-8 looks the best on white hatches! OEM clean-ness

I just got mine in the mail...less than 1000 miles on them, the tires are like brand new! Just did a 3 step wax/seal on them (even on the back of the spokes and inside of the rim).

Rick, those Type M's in all black (V1) are WICKED!
I would have gotten those wheels if I didn't stumble upon the deal for the 2010 speed3 rims and tires. Never know...Might end up with them both eventually! LOL :headbang

Those aren't Type M's, they're Ten spec's.
I was looking at them but I don't like how with all of these tenzos, the spokes usually stick out farther than the lip and it looks kinda weird...and if you curb them you're curbing the spokes.

Those MS3 OEM rims are nice but they seem a bit on the heavy side. 49.5lbs could be the norm for 18's with tire but I am not sure. I am also thinking about getting them.

'10 Speed 3 Rims FTW!!!!
I don't have a nice set of scales to weigh them. They feel about the same weight as my '10 GT 17x7 rims/tires I just sold. The difference with 18's (unless they are really nice lightweight aftermarket rims...which thenm BEND really easy...) is that more weight is moved outwards, towards the tire tread.
Anyone ever notice how 3 out of 4 sets of Enkei RPF1's in 18 inches sold on this forum are bent....
Lightweight rims are great, but they are not practical on a daily driver like most of our 3's are.
I can't wait for spring!
I'll be sure to post some pictures as soon as they are installed!
pacmann33
01-24-2010, 03:37 PM
from what I've been able to find, they are 23-24lbs per rim without tire, which isn't terribly heavy for an 18 inch rim. Many aftermarket rims are much heavier, and lack in quality.
Heck, even those tenzoR 18 inchers ppl are buying weigh exactly the same as these. 23.3 if i recall for the type M. I have read that the MS6 rims are about 25lbs each, so heavier than the MS3 rims, correct me if I'm wrong.
I wouldn't worry about weight if the rim is 25 lbs or under.
If you want a nice set of light track rims the Kosei K1's are a perennial favorite of track guys! RPF1's also, but they generally cost more.

They won't be cheap at the dealership. I'd keep searching other Mazda3 forums, I picked mine up from www.mazda3revolution.com from a guy in SoCal. I paid 850 USD for the rims, with mint mint OEM tires. The expensive part was shipping and duty, which all said and done, the tires cost me approximately 1200$ CDN. If the tires were toast it wouldn't be worth it but the rims and tires were mint mint! Not even a stone chip, and certainly no rash.
I think that between now and spring there should be a lot more sets of these for sale as people swap out their OEM for aftermarket. Keep waiting, and a good set will fall into your hands!
I sold my OEM 2010 17's for 800$, and it took like 24 hours to sell them at that price. I bet if I waited I could have gotten quite a but more like 950$ or 1000$ with mint tires obviously. This mod was in the end quite cheap. I'd pay 400$ to trade my 17's for mint speed3 rims anyday as long as good tires were included.

I will make a thread just for the occasion. I do recall BeEvil posting a thread for these rims (albeit off an 09 RX8) on his 2010 black GT hatch.
I think these wheels will look even better on red hatches. BeEvil has a black hatch and mine is Graphite mica, so very dark grey.
I might be putting my summers on in Late Feb or sometime in March for a roadtrip to Florida. I can't wait!

After looking at BeEvil's thread, and comparing to the '10 speed 3 rims...they are defly NOT the same wheels at all....very different in fact. I always thought they were the same.
My bad! Guess I'll be the first with these on a 2010 hatch on this board?
I was surprised at how different the rims are.

Be patient. Those are the stock rims off of a 2010 Mazdaspeed3. As the new MS3 floods the market, you will find more owners selling their stockers. No sense in buying a knockoff at this point. There are already two TM3ers that have these rims.

Who else has 'em?
BeEvil has the RX8's (09) I thought they were the same but they are very different.
I hope someone else has 'em on a regular 3 sedan or hatch cause I wanna see pics! I think these will look a tiny bit better than the 09 RX8's. Personal preference tho!

One member has told me that the dealer charges 517.75 per rim (2010 MS3 18 inch). I don't know if that is taxes in or not, or if it includes any TM3 discount or not.

OEM rims are going viral and its not even spring/summer yet.
Any dealer pricing on OEM wheels will be "expensive". For those who want OEM rims, its much cheaper to buy slightly used. Just have to be on the lookout for them.

I wouldn't say they are poor man's speed 3 rims, they are likely the same price or even more, and are probably 18x8 rather than 18x7.5. I do like the look of the speed 3's better though.

what would the added cost of getting the 2010 mazdaspeed or 2010 rx8 r3 rims put on a 2010 mazda 3 sport at time of purchase. A straight swap? could just run the cost into the financing which is helpful :P saves buying 2000 dollar aftermarkets.
pacmann33
03-07-2010, 02:35 PM
That would depend partially on what model you are buying, they can probably credit you something towards the new rims and tires, but the 2010 mazdaspeed3 rims are worth well over 500$ a piece WITHOUT rubber...you are better off buying a set off a speed 3 owner complete with rubber for 1000$ in mint shape and selling your oem alloys for 700-1000$ after the fact. If you are buying a GT the OEM 17 inch alloys in mint shape with mint rubber will sell for at LEAST 800$ very very easily. Especially this time of year. You are better off leaving the dealer out of it.
I put 2010 speed 3 rims on my 2010 mazda3 GT hatch and I don't regret it. After I sold my rims I only spent about 300$ for the upgrade.
