How do you change the ashtray light?

The little light inside the actual ashtray space that shines red through the piece of red plastic in the ashtray burnt out on me i guess and its bugging me, just wondering if anyone knows the easiest way to change it....

And my cigarette lighter doesnt work, i think the jack still has power, might be a really dumb question but can those things just like break?

I would check the fuse first. When I bought my car, I had to replace the fuse for the cigarette lighter.

If you are talking about the actual lighter itself, maybe it just needs a good cleaning.

its pretty easy, take the ashtrey out, take the cover thats on top of the shifter out and youll see 2 screws holding the ashtrey/air bag light part in and once they are removed just pull and it comes out. but the bulb is a weird one, not sure if you can get it at crappy tire or not

You mean remove the whole shifter console, as if you were to install a shortshifter? Anyone know the part no# for the bulb, mines been out for a while but forgot to replace it.

not the whole thing. i know i have a standard and the part thats got the boot on it comes off as one piece. no need to take the whole thing off. all you do is lift it and turn it and youll be able to get at the screws

the bulb would be one of these (http://www.v-leds.com/24-74-NEO-LED/Blue-LED/sc122294-1-2//page/1/checkForLanding/true) so a 24 - 74 bulb.

now i know for when the weather gets nicer, im too lazy to attempt it yet in the cold just for a little bulb

yeah, cause I'd want to change all the rings( climate control, lighter, ect...) and all interior lights to blue(except cluster)

it should but mine has burnt out like 3 years ago and I never changed it. The cig lighter ring was more orange ewww

yes i did change it to blue, well so far i did the climate control just have to make time to do the steering wheel ones. i decided im not gonna do the cluster, too risky.

and as MB mentionned remy you missed the GB. i have a few left over lights from the old one but i know i dont have the ashtrey one. send me a pm on omc and ill let you know what i have left

lighter ring does not light up... time to check the fuse i guess...
lol for some reason i didnt think about that, i thought id lose more power,
i bet it is just the fuse, gonna check that soon for sure

fuse is not blown... im gonna go buy a car lighter from crappy tire and test it to see if its just the actual piece thats broken... i dont have anything else to test it with

just cause the ring dont work dosent mean that the fuse is blown. mine has never worked and i never bothered to check y cause i dont really care about it

yea my ring doesnt work, but the problem with the lighter did turn out to be the actual lighter itself... which i think is weird, i didnt even think those could break, but the lighter works.

so the only half problem is the ashtray light, if i ever decide to replace it
