I'm looking for used set of snowboard and bindings. I'm a beginner (gone snowboarding about 3 times now).
Can those with experience/knowledge tell me if this is a decent deal?
Thanks in advance.

I think it is decent, not a steal. The Freestyle is Burton's low end binding and Forum boards can be had for a decent price. Question is, what model year are these? Reason I ask is that Burton bindings come with lifetime warranty if they are 2005+ for any manufacturing defects. Also, I don't know about anyone else, but I like the toe cap strap as oppose to the traditional (as it looks like these are) but that's just my personal preference. Just my 2 cents.

That is the low end of their range, but for just starting its fine. it is just a matter of if you want to upgrade shortly or not.
I have a burton bullet that I am not using much that I might be interested in selling. Board was $800 and the bindings were $199 (burton) bought in 2006. warranty is great, had a strap break once and they got me a new one within the week.

If I recall correctly... they aren't allowed to ship out of the country certain companies like Burton. You can go stateside to pick it up.

You can get a better deal than that. You should be able to talk that person down in price. Also make sure 156 is the length you need. If you are tall (6' +) that is a short board.

thanks for the responses so far.
I'm just starting so it doesn't have to be top end. I just want it to be a decent set.
Also my budget is $300 tops.
@fini, thanks for the pm. I'll think it over.
@Sean80, based on my weight, height, and level it's apparently within the acceptable range.

I snowboarded for the first time this weekend and it was a lot of fun. So I too was thinking of buying a snowboard set. I found a guy selling his 2009 Burton operator with burton custom bindings for 400. Is this a good deal? Thanks Also if im 5'9 and i weigh 160lbs is a 154cm board too short?

154 is roughly around the height you want. As long as it does not go too much lower than your chin or above your nose's tip (as a general rule) you're going to be legit on the mountain. I'm 5'11 and I run a 58 board but road a 54 once. The shorter board was a dream to whip around but not as stable as my 58.
No homo -- what's your boot size? If you're a 10+, you want to go with a wide board or you'll have too much overhang. The operator comes in both regular and wide.
For 400 --- how much use? The operator is kinda rigid so it's a bit less forgiving when you start learning how to carve but you get good response from the custom bindings. I don't know if the 09 customs came with toe-style caps, but I'd invest in a pair if they didn't. They're inexpensive, easy to swap out and you'll have more fun when you ride.
If you do pick this up look for repairs, cracks etc (the usual) but also look at the plates on the bindings and that you have all the screws for your highback etc. Burton's screws are not "off the shelf" sorta things... ---______---"
Bindings should come with 2 styles of plates and 8 screws for them.
Check your PM.

Thanks man, you've been great help. Just full of useful information lol.
Yeah its a "wide" board and I'm a 10.5. The seller says he used the board for about 3-4 times but yeah I'll be definitely checking for any cracks and missing screws
And ill also check out the "sale show" too before making a decision.
Thanks

Measuring solely based on your height (between chin to nose) is a VERY GENERAL method. It's better to go based on your height and weight (using the website MistaChin gave) or better yet go by the manufacturer specs.
Here are the specs from burton.com for the Operator wide board (http://burton.com/mens-all-mountain-freestyle-operator-wide-snowboard/220653,default,pd.html?dwvar_220653_variationSize= 157&start=14&cgid=mens-boards)
BOARD SIZE 154cm
RUNNING LENGTH 1140mm
WAIST WIDTH 254mm
SIDECUT DEPTH 21mm
SIDECUT RADIUS 7.75m
STANCE WIDTH 530mm
NOSE WIDTH nullmm
TAIL WIDTH nullmm
EFFECTIVE EDGE 1182.5mm
STANCE LOCATION 12.5
WEIGHT RANGE 120-170 lbs. / 54-77 kg.
BINDING SIZES Medium / Large
FYI, I ended up getting brand new Burton Clash + Burton Custom bindings from Scotties during their 50% off last month. Ended up around $350.
$400 for the used set that you found might be a fair deal compared to MSRP but if you can find a major sale somewhere you can probably get something new for the same price or for less...
