good oll crtc is helping us out with that one by taking rogers and bells money and making up stupid rules so other carriers for cells and isp cant make it in

Man our internet services suck compare to like Asia, specially Japan. I guess people/companies just get way too greedy with money and not care about service.

Thing is, the vast majority of the infrastructure in residential neighbourhoods (in Ontario) belongs to Bell/Rogers. It's simply far too expensive to re-run any cables, so you get wholesalers like Teksavvy running their services via Bell's lines.

Our good friends, the CRTC, have been doing this with all sorts of mediums for years, ie the cell phone industry. Officially worse cellular cost/service than Iran? Yep.

^ No they do not, however from what I've heard, their service is sometimes unreliable, and also slow.

^ well.... if i'm correct TekSavvy also uses Bell.

I'm on rogers btw, but my experience with Bell was beyond terrible.

I've been on Teksavvy for years - yes, it can be slower than other ISPs (I don't think they offer a higher speed option, only 5mbps), but for $30 with no theoretical cap, you can't go wrong. I think they've gone down... twice or 3 times... in a few years?

They indeed use Bell lines.

I've been with them since moving here and have had no issues with Teksavvy. For $30/month dry DSL, I can't complain.

I used to use Look Communications which recently got bought by Telnet Communications, pricing was pretty similar to yours at $30/month unlimited.

But ran into problems of reliability so switched back to Bell and got a better deal too.

Dear lord, I feel bad for you. A friend of mine used Look internet (satellite internet) and it was terrible. Idle for 5 minutes in a browser and you'd have to reconnect.

people with no home phone like me have to pay $10 /month extra which brings techsavvy up to $40... So I called rogers and they knocked my bill down to 40 per month for a year

Yeah, I got a letter from Rogers explaining the new plan as of March 1st. So now I have to go from ultra light to light. According to the letter I use an average of 4GB a month and the limit is 2. So they will charge me an extra $5 for every GB I use. So that's an extra $10 a month if I use 2GB more and $15 if I use 3GB more that month. So they are pretty much forcing me to go lite because I might as well pay $8 more and get up to 25GB for free and faster download speed. It's not right but what do you do??? That's an extra $100 a year.... Anyone work for Bell? What are they charging???

Got my letter today also. Basiclly its a price increase in disguise. I have Lite which gave me 60GB per month, now its been lowered to 25GB a month, thats over 50% reduction. I can see maybe lowering it to 50GB but 25GB is insane. So going to Express means $11 more a month to get 60GB, so a price increase. I may get faster downloads or will I? The speed I have now is OK for me with no problems. Wonder what they will do this time next year as it seems they increase their rates for some services around March. We are paying for The Blue Jays and the Dome...or what ever other crap they invesr in. Whos controlling these jerk o**?
