Never in my life have I received such terrible customer service :flaming !
I bought my car at Yorkdale Dufferin Mazda in Oct 2009 and was eligible for a $500 grad rebate. Long story short, it took over 16 weeks to get my refund, only after I called Mazda Canada might I add. A rep at the dealership called me unprofessional, a liar, and said that she didn't have time to call me to follow up with the situation; she had too many things to do. Only when I picked up the car did they mention that I had to pay the $500 upfront and that it would take 1-2 weeks to receive my refund, LIES. No one ever called me for a follow up, really, because they DON'T CARE!
I went in today to pick up my chq and aside from the fact they spelt my name wrong, they didn't even offer me any type of compensation. I told the manager they should offer me something for the poor example of customer service they provided and that fact that I lost out on interest (even if it is $2), and that I am planning to service my car elsewhere. The fact is, $500 is like two car payments and if I were late with those what would happen? They'd take my car away or charge me NSFs. He didn't care and they obviously don't care about their reputation.
My advice, don't buy a car at a dealership simply because it is convenient, shop around :bang
Yep, some dealers are extremely bad to deal with.
From what I know, Yorkdale has recently been taken under new management. I guess the new owners don't care unlike the previous owners.
If you trek the distance, the 1 Mazda dealer I constantly deal with is Avante Mazda. Been doing business with them for over 10yrs.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I am most definitely NOT doing my service at Yorkdale Dufferin Mazda. What kills me is that, in a time where car companies should thank and appreciate business they forget the most important factor in the equation; customer service. I will never refer any family, friends or enemies to that location...and you know what, I didn't even get that good a deal on my mazda.
I live close to Yorkdale so I'm assuming the next best option for me would be MOT or somewhere in woodbridge...agreed? Also, I'm assuming at most places you can wait in the lobby during regular maintenance? How long does it usually take? (sorry, my first car)
On the bright side, I love my 3!

their service has always been like this, they are all crooks, the receptionist down to the owner of the dealer, part of the reason mazda canada kicked the last managment out was because of their crooked ways but these scum bags are just as bad, they have and will continue to lose customers, only reason i go their is for free oil changes, after that GOOD BYE

That simply isn't true. I know the story behind the dealership. Last management FYI was not "kicked out by Mazda Canada" but the owner decided to focus on politics, he put the dealership in better hands then before. I get my speed3 serviced there all the time. I get constant reminders of when my servicing is due, they call me to book appointments and they call me afterwards as a "follow up" to clear any questions or concerns I may have in regards to the service that was done. The staff is very friendly, especially the receptionists, they are very easy to communicate with, they lack on welcoming you at the door, but then again this isnt Wal-Mart (for example).
I love how people are so quick to complain, but never take the time to compliment.

Just wanted to say we had a positive experience with the sales at Yorkdale Dufferin Mazda. We picked up our car last Saturday. John the sales manager was quite nice and seemed quite honest. The pricing we got was comparable to Jeff at MOT. We opted for Yorkdale Dufferin because they had the colour we were looking for. they managed to source our colour and model we wanted. When it arrived it only had 20 kms on it so we were quite happy.
Just one complaint:
There was a minor scratch in the rear passenger door but i let it slide as they had offered to buff it out. I prefer to do it myself as I generally do not trust dealers touching the paint. I could tell they had washed it once prior to delivery as i noticed the slight scratching in the clear from the dirty rags that most dealers use. 3 various coats of Zaino products fixed it right up.

i purchased my 2010 gt from yorkdale mazda, they were doing renovations so i didn't even notice the dealership. i was actually going to get my 3 from prima because its closer to my home. well, anyways i ended up at yorkdale duffrin mazda. i see some of you have had bad experience with them, i recieved nothing short of incredible customer service. i negociated and got the car at the price i wanted, the entire staff congradulated me and they got it delivered to me next day. i'm really happy with yorkdale dufferin mazda, i'll always service my car there

I wouldn't do that if I were you, they tried to charge me to replace a part on my car that doesn't even exist on my model. Glad you had a good time with the purchase, stay away from the service department. The people in the parts department on the other hand I've never had problems with

I'm in the same boat as you...but my beef is wit Scarboro Mazda its been 9 weeks and counting for me...still no chq...no response from the dealership. I called Mazda Canada, they told me they don't can't check the status and to contact my dealership...I gave them a few choice words and according to the moron rep, they will look into it and took down my call back number.

i brought it in for transmission warranty, the thing had spun an output spline, and it was ok it was fixed they even washed my car, then as I'm walking out they say that oil filter housing is cracked. I'm like wait a minute my car is a 2.0 litre not the 2.3 I have a spin on oil filter. How could a part that I don't have be broken? Then he tried to backpeddle by saying he must have added it from another car to my invoice by mistake. I will not go back there again

doubt very much it was a mistake, this same knob also told me that I was lucky that mazda covered my transmission warranty because my short shifter caused the problem!!:loco

had a really bad experience with yorkdale mazda too...bought my 2010 mazda 3 and every thing was ok then when I had to buy my sticker plate last september the kiosk is telling me that I can't buy a JULY sticker! they screwed up my ownership info...my husband's birthday is showing on mine! long story short after so many phone calls and I had to closed the phone on one of them as they are being rude and yelling at me that it was our fault when they are the one that process the transfer of ownership...

I just bought a 2010 Mazda Gx from them. Das is who I dealt with and I believe he is one of the co-owners. It was a good experience buying the car and I'm pretty sure it was a good deal (although I'm a newb and this is my first real car purchase). I guess I will have to see if I do get any hassle with my grad rebate, hopefully not. Good experience though thus far.

I just had a bad experience with Yorkdale mazda's service. I brought me 2010 MS3 in for oil change, brought my own oil so i supposed they just need to drain my oil out and new oil filter then everything should be good. After a week later, I finally had time to clean my engine bay, so just out of curiousity i pull the dipstick out and see the oil lvl. Guess what, the oil was about .5cm over the Max line/hole. I was furious and called up my sales (he's a good man though). he said bring the car in and we'll drain oil for you immediately. I brought it in, the kid that did my oil change before came up to me and tried to tell me that he did it for a reason. he said it's because my car is turbo and it burns oil fast blah blah blah, so I told that kid you know what dude, before my oil is all burn out, my oil pump and gaskets and anything related will be messed up. Swear to god will never bring it back to that place for service. Correct me if i'm wrong....

So, new update on this matter today at around 2pm. The service manager at Yorkdale Dufferin Mazda called me, guess what, he told me he's "not happy" with my post on TM3 forum. So I asked him which part of the post is inaccurate? He said he often add extra oil to his wife's car, and extra oil to his son's MS3. Ok, but my car is not his wife's or son's car. I clearly told him I do not want any extra (more than .5 cm above the Max hole on the dipstick) oil in my car, he argue with me and said it's normal, it's unreasonable for me to post it up here. He asked me 2 times "What do you want from me?", "Look, I don't want anything from you" was my answer. I'm just a yorkdale dufferin mazda customer who purchased 2 mazdaspeed 3s since 2007. A customer who brought 2 jugs of Mobil 1 Extended Performance from the States, and wants a more accurate oil level in my car. I didn't get that, so I posted my dealership experience here, but I got nailed by the service manager.
My problem is not whether the oil is over or not anymore, because I brought the car back and had it properly drained. My problem is, this service manager was informed by a MOT TM3 member here and apparently he was upset and Dig out my contact information in the database i.e. Phone number and then he called me but not regarding the my unsatisfied experience...it's regarding MY POST in TM3! Are you serious?
Long story short, Adi, one of the senior managers called me back shortly after the service manager's disappointing phone call, and apologized for the service manager's actions. I told him that's all I need to hear and I will repost here and let fellow members here to know that my problem has been promptly resolved. I will definitely continue to buy cars from this dealership in the future, their sales management is just this good, very approachable and understanding. :thumbsup

I had purchased the car from Yorkdale mazda last yr. the service was better than the other one which i had visted a day prior and they broke the deal as i refused to buy their rust proof and wanted 90 day no payment clause (a promotion then from mazda).
On the contrary, i had quite an opposite exprience next evening at Yorkdale mazda and i purchased my car there.
Regarding service, i had mixed experiences....but nothing note worthy (too bad or too good).
But few ppl at that dealership are very nice and helpful. When i had a need for some body work i went by their recommendation and it was a good choice. They even went an extra step to call the bodyshop to help me make best of the situation.
I was so pleased with that extra step they took, i personally went and left a thank you note for them.
What I am told (i could be wrong) that things have changed at that dealership since the new management took up. I guess like at any business/office etc there are some bad people, someone having a bad day etc.
Note: I am not a friend, owner etc :) of that dealership. Just a regular customer like most of us.

I bought my car from them, it was what it was. They really did the whole sales route which I was aware of and I think I closed the deal for invoice +400. That's what you should be aiming for.

+1. That is a complete violation of ethics and inexcusable really to treat a customer like that.
Moreover, the Service Manager needs to inform himself a little better concerning the MS3. Slightly over-filling the oil in a regular car, while still not good nor ever recommended, is not likely to do any serious damage or cause any serious issues. However, the MS3 with the DISI engine, suffer from fuel dilution and over-filling the oil in these cars can lead to very bad consequences if done consisently over time. The Mazda manual may say that the oil capacity in the MS3 is 5.7L, but any Mazda Master tech or person who knows these cars will fill in the range of 5.3-5.5L which will bring you to the even mark or just under on the dipstick.
Any Mazda service manager worth their dipstick, should already know this.

I just picked up my Mazda 3 at this location. I was very pleased with the service I had received. There was a bit of confusion as to what winter tires they were throwing in the package, getting my winter mats ready, and making sure my new graduate rebate had been processed but everything was ironed out in no time. As for the winter tires, they had given me the better ones they provide at the dealership secondary to the confusion as to which ones I had agreed upon during the initial purchase. The individual I dealt with at the finance department was great. She did not try to pressure me to buy extended warranty or any of the other packages; however, she was very informative and knowledgeable.
All in all it was a good experience with slight setback here and there that I had anticipated.

That place is a joke!!! I brought my 2008 cosmic blue mazdaspeed 3 there for the 28k service awhile back. The first thing the guy at the service counterasked me was when I painted my car. My answer to him that the paint was original from Mazda and the guy's answer was yeah right. I told him to go and check the paint code on the car and thats what the dumb ass did. Never again!!!!!!!
Bought my 2010 3 there back in 09, salesman and manager were great; nothing to complain about my buying experience there and was actually pretty pleased. I've been doing all my services to date there so far, can't point out anything exceptional but can't really complain about anything either. They don't offer the TM3 discount for parts, but then again I don't buy them there anyway...

IMHO, I think you should go to the dealer you bought the car from first, atleast test them out. They should treat you right considering or hoping they'd like to keep your business.Check out here before you go in, as to what is expected to be done for a specific service and what the relative cost is also. Not saying they will, but you don't want to get shafted $ wise, or have unnecessary work performed either.

I second this specially about the sales manager (John Rahman)
Their sales manager and some of sales people are rude and inexperienced and also mostly can close deal themselves.
I second this, I went in to close a deal and the sale manager (John Rehman) did insult me and was so ruse even after I went to get me deposit back. I just do not understand how you can treat your customers like that even in first place.!!!!!
DO NOT go to Yorkdale Dufferin Mazda! Simple as that!
Most of their sales people are inexperienced and their customer service is terrible!!! The sales manager John Rehman is the most rude and unprofessional salesperson I have ever seen!!!!
