No one is going to want the chromes, so at this point you're really limited in options.
The 2010 Speed3 rims are hard to find right because you're looking for them at the wrong time. The 2010s just came out. Give it a year and a half and I bet you'll start seeing them around.
I'll be honest, since you asked. Your chromes are muthafuggin ugly...and don't go with your car. There wouldn't be any"4PlayTime" if I was a chick and saw those rims on your car. Ditch them and buy yourself some nice OEM style rims. Nothing personal, just an opinion.

Sorry but +8000
Chrome should never be put on a Mazda3. Save them for a cutlass supreme or some shit.

I say sell your chromes and buy some OEM speed3 rims, they are SICK. You can probably find a Pontiac Grand Am (I think) drivers to take your chrome ones. My white rims came off a Grand Am. They are the same size.

As we've seen from the FS and WTB ads, 2010 is the year for the OEM. I'd say go for the GM MS3 wheels.
Just not sure how to explain it but there's something about stock but just a little off that makes it special and stand out from the crowd.
Chrome is not everyone's taste. That being said, there are those who would want to buy your current wheels.
RedRaptor is absolutley right in that 2010 wheels are still way too new.
Good luck and hope my 2 cents worth helps you decide.

Do what you think aristeidis. Don't mind the nay sayers, there will always be someone that doesn't like your look.
I think 1st gen MS3 rims look pretty hot on a sedan. When I see your signature now I am so used to your chrome rims I have trouble picturing your car without them...lol.
My opinion, try to find a set of good 1st gen MS3 wheels (if you like them & you can't get the 2nd gen ones) and powder coat them a nice dark bronze or something to compliment the blue.
Or hold out for what you really want and don't settle.
There are also these: I have never seen them on a car but think they are pretty hot. OEM MS6 + chrome goodness:)

I seen it on a MS6, not that great. In fact wayyy to much chrome.
Go gunmetal or OEM. :)
People will be stepping out of their 2010s anytime between now and spring. Just be patient. I bought my 2010s about a month ago. People will upgrade soon... Mazdaspeedforums are your best bet for increased chances.
Edit: Not a fan of chrome but it's whatever you like on your car that matters. I personally don't like the oem speed rims either, other than the 2010s and the MS6 rims...

Awwwww
Dont be upset. You asked for an opinion and they gave their opinion.
Side note... I totally agree with Red Raptor but again its my opinion. We bust your balls about the chrome... actually its not just the chrome but the STYLE of the rim. We mean well :) Be patient. Spring is just around the corner people will be unloading their Speed3 rims soon. Why not the 1st generation Speed rims?

?
Actualy i never asked redraptor if my rims were "Your chromes are muthafuggin ugly" or nice looking...all i asked was for opions if i should keep them or buy gunmetal speed rims...not once did i ask him for his opion if my rims are ugly...

Everyone has a different view on rim color and different taste as well, there should be know one telling him his rims are ugly, thats just rude IMO. I think chrome is nice IMO, it all depends on the look your going for! I say get the speed 3 rims and paint them any color you want!

Keep waiting, you will find a set of 2010 speed3 rims between now and spring. Also, to help your sale along of your chrome rims...since the tires are brand new, take 'em off the rims and sell the rims and tires seperate. Those new tire will sell SO fast for top dollar on these forums, so many people here have 17's. Then it will lower the sale price of your chrome rims to help someone pull the trigger on them.
Go for OEM 18's!
Most of the 2010 speed rims that are for sale will be WITH the OEM rubber (mostly because they supposedly suck as far as grip goes LOL). Heck the guy I bought mine formin the US wanted 850USD OBO and no one bought them for like a month, then I found the ad LOL. I gladly forked over the cash for them at that price, since they were mint, and the tires were mint.

+1 gunmetal on a blue car, speed rims are great but heavy and hard to find - why not find more subtle aftermarket rims ...

I know blake_peanut is selling a set of nice OEM Speed3 rims for i think $800.
EDIT: Ah I guess Blake didn't post them here. They are posted on Mazda3London and Kijiji

To clarify, that finish isn't actually called gunmetal. Its known as the "Hyper Silver" or more commonly called "Shinka" finish. It looks 100x better than gunmetal and no one outside of the Mazda factory can replicate the Shinka finish.

I agree about the weight, having an engineering background makes this one point bother me...I find myself lusting after Lightweight Enkei racing wheels, Kosei, OZ Allegherita (or whatever the light light ones are) in 17x7 or 17x8 inches, or even 18x8, and I haven't even installed my 2010 speed 3 rims yet! I Just hate how easy the lightweight racing wheels are to bend on a daily driver especially in 18 inches.
Sometimes, the non OEM look turns me off a bit, but at the same time it's very exciting!
It's kinda like a hot stripper!

How much do they weigh??
About 24 pounds each without tire, from what I've read, the first gen MS3 rims which are only 7 inches wide weigh this, as well as the 2010 MS3 rims which are 7.5 inches wide weigh this much as well. A half decent set of lightweight rims are 15-16 lbs each without tire LOL in 18 inch sizes.
The MS3 rims are boat anchors!
In comparison though, Tenzo Type M are 23.3, and many aftermarket rims in 18 inches weigh all the way up to 27-28 lbs each.
pacmann33
02-07-2010, 11:06 AM
I should add that 95% of rims that people on this forum install on regular MZ3's in 18 inches are NOT lightweight rims at all, and weigh at least 23 lbs a piece.
The speed3 owners are more performance conscious, and consider rim weight before upgrading more often.
