Hey, i have a 2006 3 GS Black Mica and the clear coat is peeling just behind the rear passenger door, on the front bumper and upper middle of the passenger front fender. Is anyone else having this issue? Any input would be great. Dont think mazda will cover it as im well over the warrenty, i contacted mazda canada and they said to take it to the dealer but the closest dealer to me is 2 hours away and havent had a chance to get it there.

Well Mazdas have a 5 year unlimited KM Perforation warranty, which I believe should cover the paint peeling. I just went to Mazda to get some of the rust looked at on my 05 3 with 170K on it. Currently it is pending approval from Mazda Canada. I believe all perforation claims must be approved by the service manager before being submitted to Mazda Canada.

On a side note, the service manager told me that the rust underneath my rear doors will be covered, but not the rust on my hood, which I find weird.

In England, Mazda offers a 3 year paint warranty. I agree to try and get it covered under the perforation warranty.

Yup, they wouldn't cover Phil's hood either. Must be some sort of standard policy. The excuse was that it could have been stone chips, which is ridiculous since the paint is bubbling from underneath and he doesn't have any chips in the area at all.

^That damage sounds exactly like mine on the hood. The rust was coming from inside the hood, and it's starting to flake.

well ill try to get to the dealership soon or atleast callem and see what they say but my transmission is more important at the moment. A while back i hit a rock in the road and did about 4k damage to the under body of the car. At the time myself, the mechanic and the insurance adjuster didnt notice that my tranny pan was leaking which leads me to believe it had to be after the fact and i dont remember hitting anything. Its a very small pinhole and its not leaking bad at all but the back of the pan took a pretty bad beating and most likely cant be fixed.

I don't know if your car was bought new or used, but if it was used, you should check if the body panels were replaced or repainted where they are peeling... crappy paint jobs answers it all on cars this new
but for older cars, peeling paint just means lack of care... regular waxing helps alleviate this :)
