Hi all,
I have been experiencing an occasional issue with my Mazda3 Automatic where, when in manual mode, the RPMs will jump up and down causing the car to jerk forward and back. This doesnt happen all the time, but it seems when it does happen, it will come back every 2-3 mins until I shut it down.
This occurs even though my foot on the gas is steady.
Anyone have any idea what this might be?
I mostly drive in Manual and it has only happened while in that mode. My GF said it hasn't happened to her and she drives it in regular mode...
2008.5 3 GX with 22000kms. I will be bringing it to the dealer to get it checked out but wanted to know if you guys had an idea.
Thanks

have you checked the wires of your MAF sensor ?
Do you have a CAI ?

So some new development. It gave up on me tonight. I drove my girlfriend home and on my way back, it started doing it again but this time I saw the check engine ight flicker on for a split second.
Shortly after that, check engine came back on along with check oil and then the rpms dropped to 0, so I put it in neutral and pulled over. When I was puling over the power steering light and battery lights came on. I shut it off, and waited 5 seconds and tried to start it up but it gave up after 5 seconds.
Opened up the hood to see if anything looked to be wrong but it seemed ok. After 5 mins of checking, I tried to fire it back up to drive the two blocks to get it to my place and was able to do so.
I don't know what MAF sensors are and I have no CAI.
Any ideas? I will call the used car dealer I bought it from in the morning since they have a 30day warranty on it, but maybe I would be better off going straight to a Mazda dealer...

So I got it towed to the dealer this morning.
There were no codes to be pulled and their diagnosis is water in the gas...
Awesome...
So now I'm stuck with a 70$ diagnosing fee...
Now, how to get this water out of my tank? I got a full tank too....

well how did the water get INTO the gas? Ps. Never sign anything or pay a diagnosis fee unless they also tell you how to fix the problem. If they can't figure out how to fix it, then they don't really know what the problem is and shouldn't be paid the money :)

theres stuff at Canadian tire i think its STP stuff for gas treatment maybe go there or parts source to see if that will work if not find why theres water in the lines/tank and take the gas out

you should try and figure out HOW water got into the tank in the first place... cuz if u just simply drain and refill it, its just a temoporary fix and it'll come back again...

I'm thinking condensation. My tank was near empty while the temps were fluctuating so I figure this may have been the cause.
I will run it dry and then fill it up with premium to get all of the water out and then we will see if it happens again...
Condensation? May be, if your car was sitting for month. Take a close look at last gas station.
