I tried searching, but I came up empty handed. All the results I kept getting were disabling DRLs.

I want to disable the HIDs from coming on when I flash my high beams during the day (low-beams off). I know I have to open up the steering column and cut a connection on some panel as I've seen a How-To on this matter, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Does anyone know where I can retrieve this guide or have done it themselves?

Thanks

There is a mod for the 04-09 I think but I'm not sure if it will work on the '10+ (called flash to pass)

I think there is a thread on it here but I can't seem to find it either. Here is the one from M3F

EDIT: Found it, though all it does is direct you to the M3F link lol. http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?20815-HOW-TO-Disable-lowbeam-on-when-using-flash-to-pass

if i am not mistaken the 2010s have a control module for the headlights as i am not seeing many similarities to the previous generation in this section. I have the oem xenons on my car and even they flash when i use the flash to pass function. but all the cars at my work do the same with oem xenons so i assume it really isnt all that bad for them. But in reality we dont tend to use flash to pass very often either.

Well, if I flash multiple times, I just get worried about the life of my HIDs...

On the 10s the highbeams are the hids its just a shutter that opens so my opinion on it is mazda thinks its ok for oem then I wouldn't worrey about it. Also if you flash fast enough the highbeams just stay on anyways well atleast on the 10s

just to clarify. if i have after market HIDs, and im running them with a relay harness (which only attaches to one stock plug) than i do not have to worry about this flash-to-pass issue? or i still do?

i have a 2006 mazda, just bought a set of HIDs w/ relay harness + capacitor

if i have it set up like this http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?40599-How-to-install-HIDs-on-04-06-Mazda-3/page3&highlight=spacers
