I know, another thread. Please don't merge.
For those with a short attention span, I'll sum it up for you. This dealership sucks. If you are interested in buying a car, take your business elsewhere. Read this forum section to see which dealers have good reviews. That was the biggest mistake that I made, not reading reviews. I chose Erin Mills because it's extremely close to my house. How convenient! Not.
I walked in the dealership and instantly got a bad vibe. That should have been my cue to leave. I talked to a salesman and we came to a price for my new car. We then talked about trading in my VW, which they appraised at $200 (is that a joke? I sold it privately and got $1500 for it). He asked me if I went to college/uni and mentioned that I was eligible for a $500 recent grad rebate, sweet! That was a great day, I bought my first new car.
I returned the next week for delivery and the car was MINT! I checked it bumper to bumper and was very impressed. I handed them a copy of my transcripts and was off in my new car!
About 2 weeks later, I missed a call from Mazda but the finance manager left a voicemail. His tone had bad news written all over it. He informed me that I wasn't eligible for the rebate because the course I studied didn't qualify. I returned to the dealership and talked to the finance manager to explain my situation. The salesman did not mention any of the requirements for the rebate, he only asked what school I went to and if I graduated, then told me I was eligible. This is when I find out that I had to have taken a minumum 2-year program. The finance manager heard me out and sent a fax to the rebate claim center with my transcripts and story, saying he would give me a call and keep me updated on the situation. I left happy again!
A few weeks pass, no call. I walk in to the dealership really pissed off this time to find out that the finance manager was fired. :flaming
"Shouldn't somebody pick up on where he left off?" is what I asked the new finance manager. He told me that they were very busy and apologized. They looked incredibly busy though, all standing around shooting the sh!t in an empty dealership. I was pretty tired and didn't want to argue, so I left.
I made another visit a few days later and talked with the salesman that I dealt with. I asked him for the phone number to Mazda head office. He left the room and brought in the GM Sales Manager who is still currently dealing with my issue. I held off writing a review for so long because I figured this would get resolved, I don't think I'm getting a rebate. :chuckle
To be honest, I could really use the rebate but it's the level of customer service that I'm receiving that really ticks me off more. Having a history in sales, I would be ashamed of myself if I ever treated a customer this way.
Here's part of my vehicle purchase agreement. I love broken promises:

I feel for you man. Erin Mills Mazda was my first choice too. I live in Mississauga and decided to go there after work. Thought it would be convenient... I never got a chance to cash in on the convenience, and instead got royally pissed off.
Who did you deal with? Was it Gordon? That dude really turned me off. I was so close to closing the deal with this guy, but his tone was beginning to get under my skin real fast. I'll save my rant for later, but you won't believe how unprofessional this fellow is. They screwed up and I went to MoT and bought my car from Jeff.

I dealt with a gentleman named Salman. He's a nice guy and didn't pressure me whatsoever. My complaint is about their lack of knowledge when it comes to promotions, and overall customer service.
It seems like they are your best friend when selling you a car then don't give a sh!t about you once you drive off in one. Ever feel like you're getting the run-around? Multiply that by 10.
I regret dealing with them and wish I went somewhere else.

You are always the VIP before you sign the purchase agreement, and they treat you like an ignorance after that. That's why I hate dealing with dealership.

I was there to buy a 2010 and the first lie I caught them in, I walked and never looked back! I dont know why dealers have to try and scam people!

Oh man that is frustrating. Did you end up talking to Ravi? I am sure he can work something out for you for all the hassle. He is on the forums but, your best bet would be to speak with him directly.

Oakville Mazda is all the rave these days. I went to Agincourt when I was looking for mine as well, they were very very good to me there. I recommend either of those places.
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles though, I hope everything gets resolved in a civil manner.
I HATE erin mills mazda and almost didn't buy a mazda because of my experience their. I tell everybody to go to Achilles Mazda in acton. Its worth the drive 100% and TJ the salesman there is the best of the best. I took my folks up with me when I was making the purchase and my parents are thinkin about going up there to buy a car from this guy. The whole place runs so well even the guys in the service dept are awesome. Sorry to hear about your experience at erin mills. Every comment I read about this place is the same, they are horrible. There must be some way someone can contact mazda and let them know whats going on. That place needs a complete overhual of its staff. Ive even heard horrible things about there mechanics!

I am not out to defend any dealership. However, I would suggest you write a little review with some details of your experience of Erin Mills Mazda. That way other members can benefit from your trials and tribulations.
I did write a review, twice on this forum in two different threads...

From what i'm hearing with all these complaints, I'm going to to deal with MoT or Oakville Mazda when my lease is up.
Good luck with your case!

Smart move choosing MoT or Oakville (QEW). I wish I dealt with someone else.

Update:
Ravi phoned me at work after seeing my thread. He looked up my info on his own time and decided to take initiative unlike the other people I have been dealing with. Unfortunately he couldn't get me the grad rebate as promised so he offered me a $250 credit towards service which I gladly accepted. Thank you Ravi and kudos goes to you for the good customer service. Now, if you train your staff to handle customers who have no issues like that, you would have one of the best dealerships around. Just a hint of advice, the best advertising is word of mouth from happy customers. Whenever I receive excellent service anywhere for anything, not only do I continue to go back and build a relationship, I recommend it to others who do the same.
I am writing this from my phone in the lounge area of Erin Mills Mazda. Let's see how your mechanics do.

if i were you, i would not take my car there, just my two cents, if they don't have good customer service or don't know what they are talking about forget about it. if they are only thinking about their bottom line forget it, that free $250 might cost you a lot more

I have same issues as well... I have been waiting for 6-months and I still haven't received my Grad Rebate of $500. I checked before I bought my Mazda, I have all the qualifications: Canadian Accredited University, 4-year program, Graduated in Aug 2008. Everytime I leave a voicemail the service manager that I signed with (Paiman) I never get a call back. Same thing with emails. The odd-time that I get through to him at the Erin Mills office he tells me that the Grad Rebate is on the way. I joined this forum hoping I can find a solution and at least contact someone else from Erin Mills Mazda that can help me.
Here is what has happened so far:
Dec 26, 2009 - Signed/Purchased Car
Jan , 2010 - Received car from dealer
Feb-Apr - Contacted sales rep (Paul) and he said I would receive in a month or so
May - Still didn't receive Grate Rebate, Paul told me to drop by the dealer to pick it up. When I went to dealership, Grad Rebate was not available.
June 3 - Talked to Service Manager (Paiman) responsible for my purchase and said I can pick up the cheque within the week. When I went in to dealer, there was no Grade Rebate. I requested that when my Rebate arrives, that they send it by mail to me. The Service Manager said "No problem".
June-July - Contacted Paiman the Service Manager here and there, did not return voicemail or email.
July 8 - Went in for a checkup for my car. I couldn't find Paiman the Service Manager, so I talked to another rep (forgot his name). He said he thinks a batch of Grad Rebates were mailed that week. Before I left after my Mazda Checkup, I found Paiman, I asked what is the status of Grad Rebate. He said that there has been a delay in all the Mazda Rebates but he mailed a bunch of Rebates that week. I took him at his word and figure I would give him the benefit of the doubt.
July 20 - Called again and left voicemail at reception. Also sent an email.
So now, it's been 6-months and no sign of the Mazda Grad Rebate.
I am now wondering if this is just a ploy to make me forget or give up on collecting the rebate. I am getting tired of trying to call and constantly ask for updates with them telling me "the rebate is coming soon, just wait".
Anyone can help with this? I heard Ravi at Erin Mills helped member "PCLoadLetter" on this forum.
Does anyone know the process of how Grad Rebates work at Mazda? Is there a Corporate Mazda Head Office number I can call?
Thanks in advance.

I received an unexpected check in the mail which was the grad rebate ($450 for some reason) after using my $250 service credit.
filai: Keep on them, it was around 8 months and multiple photocopies of my diplomas before Mazda even budged which is very sad. Don't give up on the rebate, make frequent visits until they hate the look of your face, that's what I did and it paid off. $450 check + $250 service.

Thanks for the help/advice, especially PCLoadLetter. I have been told I am receiving the Rebate on Friday. Hopefully it will arrive, we will see.
This is really strange because my grad rebate was included on my sales agreement, there was no rebate or cheque in the mail, this came off the price in the middle of the sale

Did you stop by in person?
Based on their track record, be patient and wait a week after the Friday. If it doesn't arrive, make another trip and make a point.

Very strange because Mazda needs to approve the rebate by verifying you are a recent graduate. Probably another charge dropped like etching fee or something and renamed on the bill of sale :)
Sneaky sneaky?

Interesting, The dealership I went to just gave me a debit refund of $500 onto my card when I picked the car up less than a week after ordering it? Definately something fishy going on here. I can't stand all the bullsh*t dealers use these days, buying a new car was a horribly stressfull experience due to it. Same as how does financing @ 0% cost like $2000?

Hey, don't paint all the dealers with the same brush, just stick with those that have a great track record.
I dont know what you guys are being told about approving your grad rebate or anything, achilles Mazda showed me the price of my car. Took off all my discounts and the amount left is what i wrote the cheque for. Achilles mazda is the best dealership i have ever been too hands down. Not even just mazda dealers. No problems at all

it is because you had your transcripts prior to you picking up the car.. the above posters did not..

The moral of the story is to hand over the transcript before picking up the car. Not just Mazdas either, most of the rebates work the same way. I'm one to talk however because I had to wait 4 weeks for my car so I had plenty of time to get my transcript in.
