Safe offset/ tire width

Looking to get rims shortly( once I find some I like) and was just curious as to the best tire/ offset to look for on an 17 or 18 " rim ( is ride quality that bad on 18's?) I want to lower at some point and would like it nice and flush. Thoughts? Recommendations? Pics or examples would be great

You can find all of the answers in the subforum that you posted in. Try searching / reading some of the threads. A good starting point is looking up RX8 wheel / tire combo's and go from there.
