Alright guys, looking for an opinion here. Noticed easter weekend my '04 hatch (automatic) was acting up again (had a previous electrical problem that was fixed by replacing a fried board on the body computer four weeks ago). For the last week the car hesitates at high speeds (+100 kph) and feels like it's jerking, with the RPMs dropping as though i's burping or somthing. As well, I started to get crazy shudders around 60 kph and somewhere around the shift point between 3rd and 4th.

Then today I get the 'AT' warning light pop up, and the manual mode was disabled. The manual seems to indicate the AT light is an electrical issue with the transmission? Not too knowledgeable about this sort of thing. When I restarted the car the AT light went out and the manual mode is back, but still drives like crap and getting worse by the day.

What I'm wondering is, could my new found issues really be related to an electrical issue, or is it likely something with the tranny itself? Also, the only mod I have on the car is a syflex auxmod, and I'm starting to wonder if it is part of the problem. The odd time over the past couple weeks I've gotten a small shock off the 3.5 mm jack when I go to plug in the ipod. Could this be a grounding issue with the stereo unit, or possibly the whole electrical system?

Any help or advice is much appreciated! Will be taking it in to have it looked over this week, but would like to have some background info before I go in there. Feeling like I'm about to loose my mind, this will be it's third time back in shop since I bought it in February! :bang
Also, if it might be the syflex auxmod, I'll pull the sucker before it goes to the shop in case it will void my CoverageOne warranty.

Pity to hear that the saga continues, good to know that you have the extended warranty.
There should be stored a trouble code as you had the AT light.
Pulled by dealer code will clarify the picture. I think the worst code is the overheating,
indirectly, it points on a problem with clutch. The ground loop is just small currents thru differential cascades of amplifier and can’t be a problem.

Dealership called me today, it's the transmission. Pronounced dead at 74,000 km. FML

Eehhh. Have no words. I like this car and I’m very disappointed by your experience with Mazda.

That sucks. At least your normal powertrain warranty covers this.

Nope, it's an '04, the powertrain ran up in december. I bought the extended warranty from Gyro, which is actually the GM CoverageOne which covers it, but I think the dealership is lucky I bought it, otherwise they'd pretty much have to eat it. Not a chance I'd pay for the repairs with it only in my hands three months!

Gyro called me to today to tell me they're dropping in a brand new transmission, and apparently the service rep went to bat for me with the warranty adjuster who wanted to rebuild. Will be posting an about the dealership experience once this wraps up.

I'm pretty disappointed with the performance of the car so far, but I do love the Mazda 3. Not exactly an ideal situation for a first time car buyer. And here I thought I knew what I was getting into! lol

Oh crap! I totally overlooked the year because of the low mileage! I have an '07 with 72,XXX so ya! :(

That's awesome that they are putting in a brand new tranny for you. :)
