I am replacing my 17" OEM rims and tire on my Mazda3. Replacing it with aftermarket 18" wheels. Anybody know If i have to change the tire inflation pressure? Is it going to affect the Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Need suggestions. Thanks..

The 2010 Mazda3 has TPMS? ... :whoa
I think that applies to U.S. models only. But to answer the question, the models with TPMS have the sensors in the wheels, so if you change them out, you'd lose the feature.
+1. As far as I know, us Canadians got shafted on the TPMS modules in the rim/tire.

I don't think there is a TPMS in 2010 mazda 3.
I have the same car and when I changed my winter rims in the past winter I asked them same question, but then nothing has happened.

I was told when I change my tires I would lose the TPMS

I'm pretty sure none of the 2010 trim levels have TPMS.... And I hope it doesn't because I don't want mine warning me I have no tire inflation when I put some aftermarket rims on. I don't mind checking mine the old fashion way.

exactly. Its a good feature to have if you plan on keeping OEM rims. But majority of us perfer aftermarket rims. Once you change up your rims, the warning light will always be on. Unless you pull the fuse out for it or something

The Mazda3 doesn't come with TPMS sensors. My wife had a puncture two days after we took delivery of the car; no light came on for her. I check the dash for the indicator lights but I couldn't find either. Since then I have also asked the mechanic at the dealership and he say the car doesn't come with one.
If the Mazda3 did come with TPMS, the TPMS sensors would be located behind the valve stems. Valve stems are typically flexible but the ones with TPMS sensors are not. With that said, you should be able to install TPMS sensors on any wheel before you mount the tire on it. My Accord came with TPMS sensors installed on the OEM wheels but I opt not to put any on my winter steelies because they were $50 per corner. I learned to ignore it the TPMS light during winter, just like the ECO light when the V6 is running in 4-cyclinder or 3-cylinder mode. The "TPMS" light is different from the low tire pressure light [_!_] (one tells you that the system is not working and the other tells you one or more of the tires are low on pressure) so you won't be confused what the car is trying to tell you.
With all the tehnology built into the Mazda3, I wish TPMS was an available option.
