View Full Version : Left turn signal ticking furiously

Had my winter tires switched to the summer ones on Friday. Saturday hubby is driving the car and all is fine. Couple hours later while running an errand, he signals to make a left turn and the left turn signal starts ticking furiously! Not the usual ticking pace, but furiously! He then checks the right turn signal, no problem, it's fine, normal pace. Checks the left turn signal, furious ticking! Anyone has had this problem? BTW, it's a 2010 Mazda3 GT. Could it be wiring problem?

Almost certain that its' just the sign of a failing bulb. Replace it, and it should be back to normal.

Best regards,

Yeah it has to be a bulb. Also check the side markers.

dead side markers won't necessary cause the blinkers to go fast... there's not enough resistance/wattage used to make a difference

also check the housing around the dead bulb for leaks, i find it strange that the bulb on a 2010 would already have blown.

A furiously ticking turn signal marker is for sure a dieing bulb. But it's sooooo weird that it's on a brand new 2010. There must be some sort of moisture that has gotten up into the signal wireing. Maybe road salt could be the culprit, because if the wires aren't properly sheilded then salt could defiantely coroad the wires. I can think of one more possible cause, that the technichian who put your summer tires back on somehow mannaged to pull or strip a wire by accident. Hopefully one of these ideas is right! But, all these problems with 2010's is making me nervous about mine.....

Does anyone know why when the dying bulb would blink faster?

Wouldn't it make more sense where the bulb would be less brighter and just stop working if it was in its phase of dying?

Thank you guys for the input/replies. Called dealership and he says most likely a blown fuse. Made appt for Thursday a.m. to have this fixed and yes, should be under warranty! It's just so stressful making a left turn and have the ticker furiously going, LOL.

It's probably just a warning signal so you know when it's on its way out... how else are you gonna know? (Unless you do a complete walk around every time you drive your car :chuckle)

almost every car manufacturer makes cars that do this. It's just a heads up so the driver knows to check that the lights are working.

In that case they need to make something for the car brake lights because seems like more than half of Ontario drivers don't have working brake lights:flaming

they should make something that will smack you at the back of your head when your taillights are out :chuckle

I'm betting it's just the bulb, not the fuse.

There are cars out there that has these warning systems. If either brake lights are out on my old 6th gen Accord, the ( ! ) light will come on the dash as soon as the brakes are applied. It even has an indicator for when the DRL are not fuctioning.

I'm betting it's just the bulb, not the fuse.
