Hey guys, purchasing a M3 on Thursday but the rust warranty just expired and owners didnt get a chance to get it fixed. Just wondering if anyone knows how much this will roughly cost?

Been seeing this a lot lately, but to be clear "M3" = BMW.
Some folks have been successful in getting rust repaired by the dealer under either tsb or warranty (sorry, but I don't recall which). If you're in the west end try calling Uni Body; if you're in the east I recommend Street Performance. Cost-Wise someone should chime in. I believe a number of members have had this repair done.

Is this the same one you said you were looking to buy in your other thread?
Its a 2004, sorry used M3 because I was typing on the phone. Different one. Out of warranty for sure though, but anyoen know if it's less than say 100?
(sorry for multiple threads, got screwed by the last seller so i had to search for a new vehicle)

if you're still under warrenty and you can make the rust EVEN WORSE such that it penetrates the panel, you're good as gold. mazda will replace it!
however, it may be a little difficult to MAKE it rust through....

If it were me, it would be the cost of the OTHER RUST FREE car I was looking to buy.
But seriously, check the whole car over. One little spot is indicative of other possible rust in the nooks and crannies. Get under the car and take a gooooood look in the voids around the front nose and rear aprons and check out all the braces and supports. Look under the doors/trunk lid/hatch, and if there is any bubbling on the window trim - walk away!

umm that's really bad advice.. sorry. Say you do make it penetrate and Mazda determines that it was deliberate or out of the norm.... what now.. your stuck with a worse looking car! Self-sabatoge.
It would definitely cost more than $100 to fix properly...
Ok thanks guys, can anyone provide a specific estimate?
Damnit, every time I come close to getting something, it seems to fall through. Is it really warranted enough to not purchase the car?
I guess I'm just sort of in impulse buying mode lol.
From my logic it would be obvious to assume there would be more rust given that this has already occured? Or is it possible this is just a isolated incident?
Seller said warranty literally expired beginning of April, in which case they just missed out...
Hrmmm, cant seem to edit my post for some reason! Anyhow if it helps, I plan on hopefully getting this (isolated issue) fixed and then krown-ing it every year?

I suspect the issue is not particularly isolated. If the paint is already bubbling, it means there is rust underneath the panel. I suspect, this is going to look like the door pillars do when rust bubbles pop up. The rust has created holes underneath the paint. My guess, low side $500 repair, high side $800-$1000.
Be sure to check for other rust spots, particularly bubbling on the door pillars, the under side of the rear wheel wells, and the rear brake light area.

ya if you want I can get you a real quote
if you are close to markham you can come by our store, just give me a call a head of time =)
if you are close to Mississaga you can check out Uni-Body Collision
So thanks for all the help guys, just an update:
I decided to call Mazda today to get them to lookup the VIN, apparently its still under warranty till august. So what I'm guessing is that the seller already took it in and got denied?
I guess I can try my local Mazda when I get it...hopefully things go smooth. Based on all the older threads I'm reading it seems they've slowly given a bigger tolerance to any rust issues on the 3's especially 2004?

I would have Mazda Canada confirm they will fix it before you buy it. If they end up denying you the warranty work, you will be SOL and have to pay for it yourself.

whats the number you called to confirm this? I'd like to know if my rust is still covered. I have an 04 hatch i just got as well. blistering on b pillers and rust in the same spot in your picture.
Just call any mazda dealer and ask for the service department. Tell them you want to findout warranty info about your vehicle.
