The R134a in my Mazda is a low and needs a top up. Does anyone know where I can purchase R134A in the cans in Toronto? Not the R12A. Much appreciated.
Thanks,

If you need to fill it up, then you obviously have a leak. Make sure you get that fixed first, otherwise it will just go right back into the atmosphere.

I think you don't need anything to buy it because I saw it @WM beside the oil section and won't deplete the atmosphere.

R12 is the worse than R134a. i beleive R134a isnt as bad to the atmostphere as R12, which is why alot of systems are being drained of R12, and rechaged with R134a. R134a also blows cooler.
you can buy top up cans in stores. i know we were selling them last year in the store (CTC)
however, we had alot of people buy them, over charge their system, and then having to come in to have the work done properly.
so, just a heads up.
but, as CWP said, make sure you dont have a leak first. bring to mazda or who ever and have it checked out first.

R134a is not as bad as the older R12 stuff but it does still have an ill effect on the atmosphere/ozone. It's also illegal to vent it into the atmosphere. If everyone had this uneducated mentality on the issue, there would be an even bigger problem with the ozone, etc. R134a should be replaced with a more friendly refrigerant but that won't be happening for years.
I know Part Source carries it like mazdaskit said above.

your allowed trace amounts to be released into the atmosphere...mainly from when you remove your gages etc...
you need an odp card to purchase it...atleast the good stuff :P.

well you need an odp for R22 and 410A and gases ment for residential air conditioning systems. Im pretty sure vehicle recharge kits are able to be purchased and carried without the license, id assume TSSA and other governing bodies would cut canadian tire off from selling the kits if it were illegal to sell to consumers, but im in the HVAC business so i only know about R22 and such :)

Used to work at canadian tire, I have sold the R134a kit without a license.
