Well i just had an Ipod adaptor installed in my brand new 2010 Mazda 3 GT-E and well is this the most frustrating experience yet.

When I bought the car from them I asked to have the Ipod adaptor installed in my car. The Day of delivery I was told that they could not install it because it will not work with the GPS unit. Ok so i was frustrated but i let it go and got the car.

Later I find out people have them installed thanks to the wonderful news on this forum. So I called the parts guy who said the same think. They can't install them. When I told him to check with Mazda Canada he says that they have an update and they now Do work. Great so I say order me one and i will get it installed.

At that point I get there today for my appointment after a week of them trying to get the information. They don't have me booked in. But no worries they will fit it in and I can leave it for the day. So I ask what is the price. They don't know. They will call me with the price before the work is done. Ok so I say if it's under $500 installed just do it. (Came to $425 so it was ok)

So I show up at the end of the day the tec has the entire dashboard on the floor and he said he can't find the conector to hook it in. They had 2 other techs look around the car for the conector and nothing. In the end they find it taped to the inside of the dash in a place they could not see. Long story short 6 hours later they get it working.

Then i get in my car to drive away and i notice my dash is all scratched up. :flaming

Ok WTF. Since everyone in service has gone home i called the General Manager who takes one look and say in a calm way...thats nothing we can fix that...i have a guy who will get rid of that easy.

I told him it shouldn't be there in the first place. Not to this extent. He agrees and says drop it off tomorrow and he will take care of it. I am giving him 1 more chance to get it right. After that I will be taking my 1st service to another dealer. Pisses me off a car with 1500 km on it is already damaged by negligence.

Will update you with Day 2 of the mess.

Just tell him youre on here, when dealers know that your a member, then they start getting their shit straight.

+1. I'm sure most dealers have heard of these forums by now through either the plate covers, decals or word of mouth. If they know your an active member they'll clean up their act knowing the dealerships e-reputation is on the line.

I think you guys are putting too much faith in forums, yes this is a good forum but Downtown Mazda already has a bad reputation and I bet most don't give a shit what we think.

+1. DT Mazda is notorious for bad service. Most dealers won't be on these forums and most will not change their ways. You definitely need to be wary of any place that has had a poor review.

Well if they've already been trashed on the forums it certainly won't make a difference, but if they had a fairly clean rep they might proceed with a bit more caution.

Well update so far. I dropped the car off this morning. The girl behind the counter was plesant and said she understood my issue and agreed it was unacceptable. She looked at the damage and said they will fix the scratches and that they are completely reparable with the process their dash guy uses. They said it will be a snap and i won't even notice. As for the one silver piece of plastic they can't fix it and wil get me a new piece and will pull one off another car so i don't have to come back. They said they will have it done by 3 PM for me. Will update you all on the final results.

Good to know they're being good about it...Hopefully the work at 3PM makes you forget this little incident ever happened!

well don't forget about "the little incident" get over it, but don't forget about the mistakes that they make. Next time you have an Audio related install it would probably be best to take it to a proffesional installer like some of our sponsors.

Ok quick update. Car was ready by 4 PM. All the repairs were done and all the scratches were taken out and trhey did a dam good job as well.

However I look at the radio and there is a scratch now below the tuning knob. Not a small one either. The girl from the service department looked at it and said that she can't believe it. I told here it wasn't there this morning so this is a new one. She went and spoke to the service manager and she is going to install a whole new radio on Thursday. I swear their their own worst enemy. I also look at my seats and carpet and i can see grease all over them from the service bays. So lets put it this way...they are going to fix the radio and I'll be going to get my car detailed on my dime to clean up the mess.

Well they are taking care of business, but this is my 3rd trip and I am sure this is costing them tons to do. I think it's time to think about a new dealer. More updates on Thursday.

you can't seem to catch a break dude. Hopefully some heads roll in the service department because of this, this is the kind of stuff that pisses boss' off, stuff that costs them money! As for a new dealer, check out some of the reviews on here and then decide for yourself, sometimes it's worth the extra drive.

i would say stick with the dealer, it sounds more like they have a problem with their service staff, which i'm sure their managment will deal with. Most times when you go to a dealership the managment don't give a crap, at least they are admitting their faults, and fixing the problem, Thats huge at a dealership!

definitely!! theyre owning up to you it and theyre actually fixing everything.
do they know that youre posting about them on here?
if they dont, then thats pretty much five stars for me lol

that dealer are full of idiots
there's a memo that came out from mazda more than 6 months ago explaining that the connector is "hidden" under a piece of metal bracket behind where the ashtray would be
even if they didn't read the damn memo, you'd think common sense would tell them to call mazda's tech support line for help... it only takes minutes of their time and saves hours of work

stop going there and go somewhere like DWM

I'd demand nothing more than a complete dashboard replacement... there's many parts that are irreparable, such as the passenger side of it where the hidden airbag would be

Ok so I am back from the dealership and everything wet smooth. Everything looked great and the car was in perfect order. Both the staff at the coaunter and the service guys were very apoligetic and said they realy want to earn my business. The good news is everything they said they would do they did and did it with no fuss.

I spoke to the General Manager there and he said that he is glad that they were able to make things right for me and said that in future he hopes that they never come up against this again. (I am sure it cost them more than the job was worth in the end)

The General manager was well aware of the bad press his dealership was getting in the past and he is doing everything he can to turn that impression around. Well they did make a beliver out of me and the staff there did everything they could to fix what was a real messy situation.

Hats off to them...they never gave up on me or the car.

Its good to see a dealership following through and making things right, hows the iPod adaptor working for you btw, worth that investment? I've been thinking about getting one.....

Well just a quick followup...first we are not done yet. My AM radio is not working after all that. I think the antenna was not hooked up. No big one...just need to get around to it.

As for the Ipod adaptor i think it was worth it. To have full controls on the radio and wheel it was well worth it. No worries wither about the cops busting you for playing with your ipod in the car.
