View Full Version : Gyro Mazda - Bad attitude. Yorkdale Mazda- GREAT PEOPLE!!!

Let me share my experience while buying my mazda 3 recently.
I had gone to gyro mazda and took test drives. During the test drive the sales person made some attractive comments on the deals which he could get me.
After deciding the car, when i sat down with him and his manager, they gave me a very enticing number. Told me if I book that day they will give me that price etc (typical sales pressure).
I said i'd like to think and come back the following day if they still give me the same price. They said they'd and we agreed to meet the following evening.
Next day when I am there, the story is completely different. They now quote me $50 per month more to start with. When i asked for the same manager with whom we spoke the prev day, we were told he is not there and his partner came out to talk to us.
I was dissappointed as they gave me one idea the previous day and that day they were singing a different song. Eventually the new manager came to middle grounds saying the price what was given to me on previous day can't me matched etc. If you cant give something..why Promise????
Anyways i kinda accepted this revised numbers. Then we were directed to the finance guy, who was trying to sell me the rust proofing package. Since he could not convince me to buy that, he snapped back at my wife n myself. It seemed to us since he could not make nice margin on that crappy package, his behaviour changed suddenly. We felt insulted but still thought lets get the car and move out.
Then when he printed the bill of sell, i noticed that i dint get the 90 days no payment option. When i asked about that, he said they can't give to me as they dint have much margin on the car and that 90 days no payment thing costs them extra money.
I said that was not told to me and i wanted to talk to the sales manger again with whom i had finalised the deal. This finance guy then went to the sales manager's office and came back with my deposit. I have never experienced a poorer display of professionalism and salesmanship before.
When i was talking finally to the sales guy (who helped us during the test drives), i saw this finance guy continuing to snap at us from his office door.
I understand they are the oldest dealership in town etc.....but with this attitude not sure how can they survive!
I was very disappointed with this whole experience but am glad that i dint buy from them.
The next day i walked into Yorkdale Mazda, and my experience was just the opposite..it was AWESOME!!!
I dint feel pressurised at any point, and both the sales manager and the finance lady were super nice!!
I got what i wanted and got the car delivered in couple of days.
Note here too i dint buy the rust proof package etc and neither i told them that i had been to some other dealer the prev day. So that makes me feel they were genuinely better and not just trying to show to me to compare against the other dealer.
Moral of the story: Dont go by the glamor and history of Gyro mazda....it's the people what makes a business experience nice. You get the same car everywhere.

I didn't have a horrible time when I bought my car at yorkdale mazda nor did I have a great time it was about average. One thing I'll warn you against is their service dept, they will flat out lie to you and try to rip me off. Went their once and only for a service when my tranny f-ed up they tried to charge me for an oil filter housing. (I have a 2008 2.0L) I was like wtf are you talking about I have the 2.0L with the spin on filter how can I have a cracked housing when I don't even have a housing. Moral of the story glad you had a good experience buying the mazda stay away from the service their.

When my parents bought their new car from Gyro one of the first things they told the salesman is they did not want to deal with the finance guy at all. They'd had enough of him on a previous car purchase when he snapped as well. Sorry to hear about the bad experience. They've been pretty good to us.......minus finance guy.

I had the exact same experience but with service, Gyro was garbage and then I went to Dufferin (Yorkdale) Mazda and they fixed everything under warrenty. I've had no issues with their service and no hidden costs. Oil changes are like $47 after tax and I have to do that one major service once a year and it costs about $200.

Three years ago I purchased a car from them. Went to business office to do papers. I signed them, three dealer principles signed the contract. Was to come back with certified funds, they would not honour the contract. Threatened to take me to court. I Lawyer'd up, ended up with a compromise in the middle. Never set foot in the dealership again. Asked to be removed from their database, still get mailings and phone calls. Worst experience I have had at a Mazda dealership.
I have never been sworn at when I was trying to spend 30K.

Markham Mazda did the same thing for me on the 90-days no payments. Right when I was going over the sale agreement I noticed at the bottom that the first payment was due in May. I questioned this because I was under the impression I was getting 90-days. The guy told us no, we have to actually request this ahead of time and it is not given automatically. We put up a little fight and the guy just wrote up another agreement. He didn't seem too happy about it, but oh well.
Glad everything worked out for you in the end though!

Bought my '04 from Gyro back in February, and I can't say I was overly impressed by the whole transaction. If I could do it again I would go elsewhere, especially since I've had issues with the car since then and had to take it back to their crappy service department.
A few things that bugged me...
1) I negotiated the price down by about $800 off the advertised price, but was still thinking about it. They gave me a couple days to think it over, only if I put a refundable $500 deposit down. Decided to go for it, but noticed they had an ad on their website, $300 off their pre-owned selection. So I brought it in and said I'll take it, but I'd like to use the coupon. I was told the $300 off was already factored in to the discount I received when I negotiated the deal. Smelled like BS, especially since they never mentioned a single word about it at the time. But I went with it anyways because I figured I had already negotiated the price and it was too late.
2) They kinda screwed me on the financing, promising a rate that he knew he couldn't get from the bank. So as soon as I say I'm going to take the car, suddenly the financing goes from 6.8% fixed over 60 months, to 7.8% over 48. His excuse was he forgot the car was an '04, and would not be able to get the lower rate from the bank, based on the fact that it was more than 5 years old. I understand he can't do anything about the bank policies, but he should have been able to do the basic math that 2010-2004 = 6 years, and I was never going to get the rate he promised. Sloppy work from someone who doesn't seem to really give a crap about the customer.
3) They said the small patch of rust at the rear bumper/wheel well seam would be sanded and painted before delivery. Yet when I went to pick it up it was clearly still there. This put a delay on getting the car for another 3 days, at which point I had to pick up the car myself from the body shop they use out at Laurence and Kennedy. Not impressed with the work either, the paint is a chipped and jagged at the seam. But my complaints fell on deaf ears at the Gyro service department, who say I need to take it up with sales, as they are "satisfied" with the work done. So needless to say, will never be taking my car back for body work.
Long story short: crappy service, sloppy sales department, and just overall not a very pleasant experience, took the fun right out of buying my first car.

I bought my car from Gyro in November, I had a similar experience with their finance guy. He was very insistent on the extended warranty and rustproofing. It was very difficult to get out of his office without either, but I did. I didn't have an issue with the salesperson, and the car that was delivered was absolutely perfect but after the negotiation it seemed like i had to sit through another entire negotiation. I brought backup and I can be very stubborn so I made it out without paying anything more than the agreed-upon figure but I can see how a lot of people could have been ripped off.
If I buy another Mazda I'm going to talk to some other dealers.

WORST experience with GYRO Mazda...lost $800 in deposits....since we changed our mind with the deal because they lowballed my 2004 trade-in mazda coz it was on accident even though we didn`t know about it.
The previous owner did spend $6000 to make the car like new as per Car Proof which they told us they will give us the copy of the report but never got to see the report.
They tried to sell us 8 years financing to lower the monthly pymnts.
FINANCING GUY WAS A DIK.....kept talking the whole time even though we told him we are not interested and we had somewhere else to go and gonna be late....he just kept going on and on and on and he told us that Krown is crap
Ended up going to Yorkdale Mazda and had totally different treatment from the manager....he even showed us the computer how he got to the monthly pymnt!!

When you sign the bill or sale and paid deposit. The bill shouldsyayour car will be trade in for how much, if they can't give u that TIV, then you can legally back out. I won't give up so easy on the $800. You know the sale guy don't even make $800 on 1 car sale...especially only on a Mazda3

i deal with gyro mazda all the time with no problems, they replaced my engine under warrenty because the old one kept buring oil rapidly, no questions asked. theyre good when you deal with the right ppl there.

My former and current, mother's former (x2) and current car have all come from Gyro. We've never had issues such as those posted in this thread or the other one or two that are in this section.

I bought my car from Gyro and get it serviced there. They are very helpful and friendly and I haven't had any negative experiences with them.
