My gf's 2004 sedan needs brakes & rotors replacements. I was wondering if my 2008.5 hatch brakes & rotors can be used for that replacement since I intend on upgrading mine anyway. Her car also runs in 16" rims so would clearance be an issue? I would appreciate it if someone could please let me know.
Thanks!

It's not so much an issue using hatch or sedan rotors, but moreso an issue using 2.3L parts on a 2.0L.

just as long as you have clearance, if the size of the rotors are the same you should be fine. If you are up-sizing the rotors you will need to do some more mods to the brakes to get it to work

As Jason said, the 2.3L have bigger brakes than the 2.0L. If your hatch is a GX (I can never remember when they started making those), if will fit the sedan GX and GS. If your hatch is a GS or GT, it will only fit sedan GTs.

Well she has the base model and I have the GT. What would hinder my rotors from fitting the base model... Clearance?

The 2.3 has bigger rotors, so the caliper will not fit the bigger rotors without modification (ie big brake kit).

Actually all you'd need would be the larger caliper mount brackets. The caliper is the same, the pads are the same, master cylinder is the same, etc. Only difference is rotors and caliper brackets.
I'm trying to get the part numbers for the brackets, but the PDF I have keeps freezing...
EDIT: You'd need to order the two front brackets and two rear brackets in order to make the swap. You'd have to talk to a dealer to see the cost, but it doesn't look cheap.

i'd maybe even suggest a wreckers if you are mechanically inclined get the caliper brackets off of a 2.3 and you should be ok

If you are giving her your pads and rotors, might as well try to find the larger 2.3L front calipers to upgrade her braking system as well. She'll no longer be able to use 15" rims but who wants to roll in 15"s anyways.

the 2.3 calipers are NOT larger in any way from the 2.0 calipers, only the brackets are shaped differently to allow fitment of the larger rotors
pads are the same, calipers are the same!

Hmmm that's a shame. I thought/hoped it'd be a simple swap. This proves to be a bigger hassle and expenditure that I can't afford. Well this is good for future reference. Thanks everyone for your insight!
