How to get tar off tires

As the title says, anyone have the joy of trying to remove tar off their tires? Any success stories anyone would like to share? what worked, what hasn't, any experiences with the tar causing a pull or vibration on the car as a whole?

is it only on the tread? Just drive around like normal til it goes away.

yeah if its on the tread, especially on the front ones I say "spin" it off, of course not on a public road. if it's not on the drive wheels or on the tread I'd get some turpentine/paint thinner and a scrub pad and try to loosen it off. That still doesn't work plastic paint scrapper/putty knife and elbow grease!

Thanks for the info folks. After driving for a bit it does not seem too bad, just a few spots on the tread that will probably come off as I wear down the tread a bit more. Not much left anyways.
