My 2005 3I's battery and steering wheeling warning lights suddenly lit up this morning while I was driving, and the steering wheel became hard to turn. Then, suddenly everything was back to normal. I kept on driving for another half hour without any problem.

When I tried to drive the car this afternoon, the car started at 3rd gear. I could not change it to any other gear. After drove for about 1 minute, the steering wheel and battery warning sign popped up again. It was difficult to control the steering wheel. Felt frustrated, I just decided to drive back home and leave the car alone.

About 1~2 hours later, when I tried to drive the car again, the car would not start/engage the engine. However, the AC, radio, dashboard and lights were all working.

Could someone explain to me what has happened?

i never had any problems with my steering wheel not working ... but the not starting issue ive had many times .. i also have a 2005 and it was the terminals on the starter motor .. they were rusted and had bad connections. there is a tsb for the problem and i believe it cost about $40 to fix.

My buddy had a 2005 gt with a very similar problem. You need to get under the car and find the starter wiring plug. My buddy's was covered in road salt and grime. He just cleaned up the plug and then put it back in and covered the whole thing in electrical tape to keep the salt out. It's lasted for 3 years with no more signs of the problem. So hopefuly that helps you too!
