just joined the forum, and bought an 07 3 hatch, pearl white, 5 speed.

I just recently took off the side moldings and loaded the car with 3 coats of wax, now that it's smooth I am looking into purchasing lowering springs.

from what I was told by the dealer, the car was bought in 07 with a transfurable 6 year/ 160k warrenty which has now been passed onto me.

the 3 has 48k on it now and I am looking to give it 1-2" drop, (no more than 2") and eventually upgrade to stock speed rims.

will putting lowering springs in void my current warranty?

am I safe with swaping out the stock springs with aftermarket springs? or do I need to change the struts and shocks?

are there any clearence issues?

are there any extinsions or modified track/ stablizer bars needed?

has anybody else gone threw a similar situation?

thanks for anyfeed back

you should get a full coilover kit, lowering springs are sketchy. theres a sponsor selling a set on sale right now.
dunno if it'll void warrenty or not

I see you're new and started a couple warranty related threads. Some quick tips. Search; these topics have been covered numerous times so we have the info on the forum. I can see there are already some threads linked in below in the Similar Threads section at the bottom of this thread (try reading those).

Coles notes; yes, modifying your car can always lead to warranty issues. if you're not willing to go without warranty on some parts don't mod your car. Some dealers are mod friendly and some are not.

lowering springs are sketchy

That's a rather strong statement to make without any backup. Sketchy in what way?

so much stress on just the springs also more stress on your stock struts, doesn't always balance out properly and you could potentially ruin your cars handling. coilovers are the way to go.

Lowering springs are not sketchy. They do shorten the life of your shocks and struts and depending how low (1.8" or more drop) your camber will be off by the requirement.

haha, sounds sketchy to me. plus they never know what the actual drop will be they give you a range between a couple inchs, sketchy. when you can get coilovers and set them to an exact hight/stiffness.

It can sound whatever it likes to you. But there is nothing 'sketchy' about a properly matched set of springs and dampers.

BTW, do you adjust your coilover height as you drive to compensate for the amount of gas in the tank? If not, then you aren't getting an exact height with your coilovers either.

Says the guy with no coilovers or springs.

I have to agree with what was said above. I have springs / dampers and have had no issues whatsoever. When buying dampers and lowering springs you need to get dampers that were designed to be matched with lowering springs. Also, I have never seen an estimated drop to be off by 'inches'; that is a gross overstatement. Off by 1/4 or as much as 1/2 inch, yes, there are internet claims of this.

no, no i don't. but i have driven a couple miatas with coilovers. you can't compare coils with springs. its not like i havn't looked into it and researched. and im not saying you can't get good handling from lowering springs. coilovers are just better.

ok, ok i understand. but even that 1/4 - 1/2 inch difference wouldn't be good. maybe it was an overstatement.
