Hello people,

Question: Can I put 215/50/17 instead of my factory 205/50/17 tires on the same wheel ?

Thanx :)

perhaps people wanted you to search for yourself? Anyhow, yes you can, speedometer will be off by 1.6%, which is not bad. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Perhaps you know that the speed does not depend on tire's width ? And I did search.

What do you mean by that?

The point is to keep a similar diameter of a tire as close to the stock one to legally maintain the accuracy of your speedometer with a variance allowance of +/- 3%.

the sidewall measurement is a percentage of the tire width (50% of 205 or 215)
205/50 vs 215/50 means sidewall will be about .5cm higher - throwing off the geometry of your OEM spec, causing speedometer to be off by approx 1.6%

LOL!

Fail. Maybe be nice to the guys who post answers to your questions, especially when they're mods.
