I'm sure everyone has experienced this. You purposely park at the back of a parking lot so no one will park beside you. And it figures, 90% of the time when you walk back to your car there's someone who decided to cozy up right next to you... despite the fact that there are several other free spots in the same lot :chuckle
This weekend for some reason people seem to really like my car... I happened to be carrying a camera in my bag during my trip from Ottawa to Toronto and so far this is what I've had to put up with:
Massive parking lot at work. I always park at the back...

...and I walk out to this...
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1092/img2061t.jpg
...of ALL the places to park. RIGHT beside me. Come on. :chuckle

At a rest stop in Kingston. Parked SOOOOOOOOO far from the store... and I walk out to this. Are you kidding me? Out of ALL those spots to park in? COME ON!!!
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/3392/img2063c.jpg
I walked out to this one this morning. I was particularly upset out this.

Really? The entire road is available and you park RIGHT there??? And so close? ARghhhhh :complain

Anyway that's my rant of the day. lol, Feel free to post your own stories/rants... it'll make me feel better. haha

The Parking lot to my gym is freaking huge, I always try and park as far away as possible, and EVERY time i come out someone is parked right beside me.

that's insane... must be some sort of explanation for why people behave like that... Animals travel in packs; do humans park in packs?

Maybe if it's a "who's car would they break into, theirs or mine" syndrome...?

no. people are just a**holes.
i hate people.
this happens all the time where ever i park. as RJ3 said, i just gave up and park where ever now.
however, the worst was when i came back, and there was a F250 in an already tight space. i left him a pleasant note complimenting him on his superb parking job.

i think people are just so dumb that they cant park in a free space and need to use your car as a guide its so dumb and they always seem to open their door and hit your car.

im guessing ppl park beside other cars in this case so they feel a bit safer? so maybe their car wont get broken into if its beside others? lol

If I have to park my car in the school parking lot across the street from my buddy's house when I'm in Markham, I am usually leave one space between myself and the next vehicle.

I have a policy...I try to find a parking spot next to a Mazda 3, and almost 80% of the time I do. It seems to me that most people that drive a Mazda tend to know how to drive so I trust them more than any :P.

Yeah this has to be the reason... unless they're the kind of people that like to stand behind you in a lineup and breathe down your neck...ewww

I disagree 100%.
I used to think that as well until I saw a few dinged up mazdas. It doesn't matter what car you drive, people will always **** them up. Eddie Griffin Ferrari?
I find that if pulling into a spot hood first, it's better to be more on the left side. Odds are both people next to you will pull in straight as well, staying to the left will avoid the driver on the right smashing your door. Just hope there isn't an SUV filled with little kids that parks on the left :chuckle

You know now that I look at the whole picture, I think what happened was they were going to park a bit ahead and realized the fire Hydrant.

This is so true.
I try to park in end spots and that's it. If the spot borders a lane way or the end of a row or something I get over as far as I can to that side and leave a ton of room between me and the other spot.

I agree with some people though. I think some people park beside other people so that at least one side of their car is "safe" from damages or w/e kind or robbery.

I agree with this. I've seen people who try to park in a free space with no cars on either side and they fail... miserably.

It is safer for girls to go in pairs I guess. Especially in a club.

I think it depends on the car that parks beside you. If I'm far out by myself, and come out to see another CLEAN well maintained car beside me, then chances are the guy knows that he doesn't want dings on his car and knows that you don't want dings on your car, therefore making it sort of like team work. Know what I'm saying? lol
I hate it when I park far out, and then a POS junk mobile parks beside me when there are a bajillion spots though...

LOL!!! i like the truck one, he actually took the time to reverse right up to your car instead of just leaving it at the side. no need for him to reverse. made me laugh, thanks for brightening my shitty day mazdabetty.
EDIT: i just saw why he had to reverse but still pretty fun!

+1...
On Sunday I went to Wonderland.. parked out far... but knew the lot would fill up. I picked a nice corner and parked my car over the edge of the line. I'm sitting on the grass outside the park taking a break and I watch the owner and her friend come back. He swung the door wide open with so much force that the door bounced back. Like who the fuc# opens the door all the way!

Actually the pic is a little deceiving.. the truck could have moved up a lot more. But the annoying part was that there was an ENTIRE road available behind us, and he chose to park there!!! lol

This is true, if there's ever a situation where I absolutely HAVE to park beside someone it's gonna be beside a really clean/expensive car hahahhah
Like who the fuc# opens the door all the way!
Seriously... my neighbour and her kid used to do that ALL the time... and the kid played hockey in the winter so they'd have the door WIDE open to take all the equipment out. It took me a full year to finally score the secluded parking spot off to the side and far, far away from their beater lol

lol after reading this thread, i over think here i park now :P just yesterday wen i went to the mall i could have parked far away from everyone else, instead i parked in between a curb and one of those nice new jags! so no one would hit my car. but wen i came back i saw the jag left and a rusted 2000 honda civic was right beside my car. lol

the truck parked there because it'll probably be easier to get out instead of getting blocked in, plus if you just park randomly instead of in a line on the street it can create wasted space.
as for the othes they're most likely thinking the same thing you are, so they'll probably be more careful.
