Hi guys,
I am new here. I just bought a used 2006 Mazda 3 hatchback and I need to buy a set of all season tires.
The size of the tires that are currently on the car is: 205 55R 16
But I searched Costco and Canadiantire website with the car model and they gave me the size: P205/50R17
So which size am I supposed to go with? Thanks!

If you want to keep running the stock 16 rims, you will want 205/55/16. If you want to upgrade to 17" rims, the stock size is 205/50/17. A lot of people here run 215/45/17 if you want to run some wider tires.

Thanks a lot, Steven.
So if I want to go with the stock 16' tires, could you recommend some tires to go?
Thanks!

Not sure about specific tires, but are you planning on running all seasons year round or getting winters?
You should PM the sponsors here (Simply Tire, Tire 23, Exclusive Tire, etc) and they will probably be able to better suggest what tires you should get, and at prices cheaper than Canadian Tire.

Thanks Steven.
Have you bought tires from Tire 23? How are they?

Unfortunately I do not have any personal experience buying tires from any of the sponsors. All my tires thus far have been purchased 2nd hand.
However, I'm fairly confident that any of the sponsors will be pretty good.

Sorry, just to add i contacted one of the sponsors (won't mention name) his price was ridiculous. And he said if i pay by Credit card i would have to pay extra 2%. WTF!! Excuse my french. Shop around but check with Leon!! Price is same whether you pay cash or credit.

Thanks dhlwtu
I just checked with some of the sponsors and found their prices are higher than Costco and Canadian Tire. e.g. Michelin Primacy MXV4 after $70 discount.
BTW, would you guys recommend Michelin Primacy MXV4 for my 2006 hatchback?
Thanks a bunch!

Instead of all seasons, I'd recommend a set of summers as well as a set of winters. Better tires for each season and longer life. May seem like alot at first but if you plan on keeping your car well worth it!!
BTW can you believe that the "SPONSORS" are charging more. Go figure. Cheers!!

+1 on getting a set of winters and a set of summers. As an example, the Falken ZE912 (IIRC the model number) are rated as all-season tires, and make a great set of summer tires, but are pretty much garbage in the snow.
As well, for the sponsors, they are not able to compete with the big box stores on ALL tire models, but I found that whatever they have on special tend to be cheaper than the big box stores.

I already have a set of winter tires. Now I am looking at: Michelin Primacy MXV4. Would you guys recommend it?
I got a quote from a store:$690/set (everything included)+ $60 mail in rebate from Michelin
How is this deal?

I checked tirerack.com they've got pretty good reviews. The price u were quoted seems to be fair.
