Hi there I have a 2009 Mazda 3 Pearl White sport. Last year I had taken my car to Ontario Mazda where I bought it and pointed out these small tiny rust spots on the back hatch. They said it was enviromental and wasn't covered. I just washed my car yesterday and they are everywhere?!!!! Some I can kind of rub them off, others nope!!!!!! Anyone else notice these??? Any suggestions? I take good care of my car.. wash it, wax every couple of months... It seems more like a defect with the paint, because it is on the plastic too!!!

I believe there is a thread regarding this issue. Bottom line, mazda uses cheap paint.

rail dust? I think you can get it off using clay bar

The dealer is correct, it is environmental. We all get it so don't be pissed. That is part of owning a car. You need to claybar your car to get rid of it (you will need to wax after claying). Search for claybar, rail dust, rust bloom, etc and you will find bucket loads of information about it. Usually it shows more on white/silver cars.

Every car has it, but it is more prominent on white cars.
