Just as the thread name,
just want to figure out the interest over CAI and SRI,
(CAI = Cold Air Intake, SRI = Short Ram Intake ; for those who might not know those to acronyms...)
Which one would you ppl rather go with ? and why?

I feel the performance difference between the two is not much difference.
It's certainly not enough to overcome other benefits of SRI.
Sounds nice
Easy to install and put back to stock (no need to remove bumper)
Almost impossible to hydrolock

They say CAI has faster response and more lower end torque, while SRI has better response at higher rpms, (though i think there's not much difference), or maybe the other way around.
And if not properly heat-blocked, SRI might even work worse than stock intake. Everything has pros and cons, thats why there's still 2 kinds of air intakes in the market.
If one was certainly better than another, that the other one would not need to exist, then :P

yeah lol well that's my personal opinion though lol
The gains of CAI just isn't enough to make me choose CAI over SRI.

Actually its reverse of what you stated in regards to gains. An SRI has better gains in the lower RPM whereas the CAI is more upper. I've had both the SRI and CAI and IMHO, I find the CAI has better gains throughout the whole RPM range. The Simota def felt like it had better pull at the lower RPMs, but heat lock was an issue esp when the temp and humidity was brutal.

Thanks for clarifying, Chris! :)

You can get CAI's that morph into SRI's for the winter...Those are nice.
I voted CAI, as I'm looking to get one atm for a reasonable price :)

I have the K&N combo intake that can be both a CAI or a SRI. I've had it in CAI mode since getting the car at the end of Novemeber and to be honest am more likely to change it to SRI during the spring/summer months even though that seems counter-intuitive because it's easier to hydrolock at this time of year. That being said I just plan to run CAI permanently.

Yea I definitely want to prevent hydro-lock...because knowing me I'll hit every puddle imaginable :-/
Hopefully I can buy a shield or something at the same time as when I get my CAI, then I can get 'em both installed at the same time and be worry-free :)

You can get a Injen HydraShield from Nextmod, that's what I have on mine and it works extremely well.. as I found out the day when we had that good rain storm with downpour.

I have the Injen CAI but from the looks of it you can convert it to a SRI (From looking at P-O-G-I's car and talking to MCGuyver3... Im going to try as I see and hear about those nasty rain falls that like to hydro lock the car.
Ive been lucky as I have a 2nd car But I dont want to be in that situation where this happens.
I have the hydroshield from nextmod but dont want to take a chance.
This setup is an easy solution should I want to convert it back to CAI.

^^ Yes, I have the Injen 2 piece intake. I got it for the sole reason that I could switch it between a SRI and CAI. Generally, I would opt for an SRI only be ause it looks better...... But you all know me; "SHOW over GO :) ". If you're interested more in the performance, go with the CAI.
