This weekend in Van City UFC 115. Anybody think that Chuck could win? I'm fully aware of the shape he is showing up in.

I think Rich Franklin has a better all around game. Chuck has incredible takedown defense. Rich will be happy to stand and bang like he did with Wand.
I don't see Chuck tagging Rich with one of his famous overhand rights. I've grown to like Chuck now that he's in the later stages of his career.

I think it's great the kind of shape that Chuck is in, but I also got Rich to take this...

Chuck looked good until the last 5 seconds of the first round. If he had survived the first round Rich would have been in serious trouble with that broken forearm!

I agree on Chuck, but with all the hits he has taken, I really hope he retired. He has a glass jaw now, and needs to hang up the gloves before he dies in the ring.

I'm torn between who would win in a fight between Ice Man, Arlovski, and a brisk gust of wind.......

Chuck actually impressed me during the fight. He threw a lot of stuff he used to throw before he got the reputation of a one punch KO artist. All I remember during the fight was how hard he was throwing those body kicks and how much it must have hurt even to block them. Turns out Rich broke his arm when he blocked one of them!
Rich timed his KO counterpunch beautifully, Chuck was caught off balance leaning completely forward. IMO, when a fighter is completely vulnerable or off balance it doesn't take as much power to KO him as long as its timed well and flush. Although I think losing his chin is a factor, the game evolving past him is just as much as a factor. Happened to Wanderlei, Cro Cop, Chuck. Would definitely like to see Chuck back if he fought like he did minus those 5 last seconds.

I did a search I didn't notice anything for a general chat for MMA...thought I would start one.
What do you guys think about UFC 161 in the 'peg this week-end? For the first time in a while I'm thinking twice about not buying it...
I think Evans is going to beat Hendo if he doesn't think dude is done. It will be interesting to see if Nelson keeps winning. Pat Barry vs Shawn Jordan is a good way to open the PPV, two brawlers.
Discuss!

First off, I hate the fact that the Canadian shows keep kinda getting shafted imo. We always get kinda shitty fights. This card though doesn't seem bad, but it did already got a fight cancelled that I think was a good one, even if Chael was gonna be in it.
But for 161 I think Evans will also win. And if hendo losses he's gonna retire. Roy I think will also win, as much as I hate the guy (also hate burger king) his fists are just madness, and Barry over Jordan.

I just LOL'D all over his fists are just madness! C'mon son don't hate on the chicken sandwich!!
I have to say that while the fights in this event are likely going to be entertaining, IMO they are really not consequential in any weight class really. Hendo and Rashad have both already been thrashed by Jones, the heavyweights are all tier 2 guys. I have to agree with the statement made earlier that this is not a top-flight card.
That being said, I'll likely get together with a couple of buddies to watch it, as any Barry fight will be interesteing...;-)

What bugs me is that the local pubs are not showing them anymore because the UFC priced it way too high for them. Used to enjoy these with a beer and wings but now it's just over the internet.

Hendo has not been violated by Jones yet. Not that the fight would be relevant, they gotta keep finding him worthy contenders like Gustafson or Texiera. I don't want to see him go to HW he would get murdered by the top guys.

Pettis f'ed his knee up. It's now Jose Aldo vs Korean Zombie.
Ha!
You're right!
For some reason I thought that Hendo already got demolished by JBJ...but as you've said, not that it matters, he'd get killed.
We know now that Gustofson is the next on the list. I'll be interested to see this fight as they're both long fighters, and apparently they have beef with each other, so the intensity will be there.
Cheers,
Rob.

A much less exciting match up IMO.
Pettis vs. Aldo would have been great.
Apparently the new season TUF will be a good one, though. I read a post stating that the coaches are getting along like Tito and Shamrock did...
Cheers,
Rob.
