View Full Version : Upper displays in older models - affects of installing aftermarket?
Hey guys, lots of threads from me lately (noob trying to learn my ways). Just wondering if anyone can help in regards to my question w/ installing a double din for my 2004 3? Now, I drove a 2006 the other day, in which it showed temp, which mine does not. Mine only shows station and time pretty much, but I've been reading around and see that some are actually linked to the trip calc?
If I'm looking to install aftermarket double din, is my car specifically going to be affected in any way with regards to the upper display?
Thanks

You will lose the LCD function but that's it.

You lose the display, as in the 04-06's display is attached to the stock headunit, while the 07-09 are seperate. My 04' has a Pioneer DDin unit and the display was removed.
Hey, by any chance could you upload a new pic of your dash to show how it looks now? I went back to the old thread but its cut off right at the top, looking for more of a driver view thing if you dont mind. If not, no worries. Thanks either way!

It's just a pocket.

+1 Yeap. Useful sometimes but the pocket isn't very deep.
Ohhh, hrmm this changes everything sorta. I bought that Pioneer u310bt but am contemplating to get something more higher end now that I'm missing the space? Feels kind of empty for some reason or maybe I'm just not used to it
