Good morning all,
after a very hard install of 6.5" Alpine Type-S Speakers into my car, the sound quality was noticeably DECREASED.
The Alpine tweeters sounds a lot HIGHER than the stock tweeters which seems to contribute to the low sound quality. Perhaps the speakers aren't getting enough power by my AMP? (My amp seems to have problems sometimes).
My current setup is JVC deck, 12" rockford sub (can't remember the power) and now the alpine component speakers (80 RMS 240 max) with the amp.
What other problems could lead to this?? Poor wiring connections? I'm leaning towards buying a new AMP but am worried once I do it doesn't solve the problem and i'll be back in square one with money short. I will need a 4 channel amp too correct?
**i read that these speakers came with in-line crossovers does that mean its part of the woofer or its in the wire? so if i used stock wires instead of alpine's wires, does that mean my cross overs aren't in? would that have that big of an effect??

The cross over is a seperate box that gets wired between the woofer and tweeter.
If that is installed have you checked the EQ settings on you JVC deck???

Your car looks very familiar...you live in Mississauga don't you? around Streetsville?
Either way, is your amp connected to both your speakers and your sub or just to the sub? how powerful is the amp RMS-wise? you may want to consider getting or (depending on the type of amp) using the one you have as a speaker amp and going with something class-d for your sub.
It might also just be a problem with your settings, as long as all your components that are wired up to the amp are working it shouldn't be a problem with the amp unless it's underpowered.

yes i do live in mississauga around streetsville;
my current amp is a 4 channel amp where one channel is my sub and the other channel are my speakers.
the crossovers that came with the SPS-600c (type s) do not have separate cross over units but they said it was built-in.

its just that my tweeters are really high pitched and overall quality doesnt even match to stock. almost sounds like laptop speakers for lack of a better term.

I know where I recognize you from actually...you live right across the street from my old townhouse complex.
In that case your amp should be powerful enough to support your setup...Are you sure you've tried going through all of the settings on your deck? HPF/LPF if you have them would make a noticable difference.
You can also check out one of the sponsors on the forums and see if they could look into the root of the problem for you. My recommendations would be either Customs647 or Selective Sound (SS is located at Milcreek and Derry, so it's relatvely close to where you live if that matters)

I've already tried playing around wit the settings like crossover frequency (80, 120, 150), high power amp or low power amp, equalizers, the only thing that seems to make it not bad as to fade it to the back which basically means not using the front almost. im hoping its my amp thats faulty and once I change that everything will be smooth sailing.

problem is solved with a 800 w pioneer amp ... but seems like now my sub is not getting enough power, looks like ill hafta get more ... its hard to run 4 speakers and sub to a 4 channel amp cuz power is divided so harsh. any suggestions? my speakers need at least 80 W RMS, sub is probably 100+
in my own opinion. The best sounding set ups i have had out of 4 stereo systems was one with crossover speakers and there being an actual pre amp that came with the speakers to seperate the sound. And they ran off the deck. The other set up that I love is my stock bose system in my 2010 with a aftermarket sub set up. I've had speakers run off amps and personally i don't hear the gains from it. From the factory deck 15 to 20 watts rms per speaker plus the pre amped crossover gives more than enough power to kill your ears. My friend whos a sound engineer had loved both of these systems aswell. Just a thought, one power wire, one amp, less money and less things to blow, it makes things a lot easier!

running the alpine speakers off the deck is probably out of the option, i need a way to power the 80W speakers, the stock rear speakers (doesnt need much power) and the subwoofer which I would like to give (100+ W). Need some help on setups that will power all of these ... separate amps? Multi channel amps seem weaker but that's the solution I see it as is get a higher end multi channel amp that powers everything.
