i have a 2005 mazda 3 sport and the rear fenders and the b pillar is rusting like no tomorrow. i took it to a dealership for warranty. the service manager told me go to their recommended body shop called Prochilo Brothers to get it checked out and get some pictures taken so they could send it to mazda canada for approval. i just want to know if it's normal for dealers to outsource their warranty work? because i thought they would fix the rust themselves at their own dealership.

thanks

Many dealerships do not have their own body shop. Yes it is normal for dealers to outsource. Same for tint and paint work.

Most dealers do not have a bodyshop. As a result they must outsource the work.

Hi, just recently I emailed to Mazda Canada and got the following answer.

"Thank you for taking the time to write to Mazda Canada Inc. We appreciate your interest and are pleased to offer clarifications. The Mazda CX-7 and Mazda3 are both covered for 3 years or 80 000km on corrosion that is due to a manufacturing defect. This warranty begins on the original in-service date of the vehicle.

That is the standard warranty and not the corrosion warranty. Read one of the other million or so corrosion/rust threads on the board.

The spot where my rear wiper locate is rusted out, and my car has warranty unti Sept 2010 (I have extended rust proof anyway), I brought my car to dealer 3-4 weeks ago, they said the adjuster will have to take photos, so I brought the car in, they took photos and said will let me know.....called last week, they said they havent hear back from Head office....wtf...
Why you need to wait til head office to approve to fix my rusted spot? Even it needs to, that takes 3-4 weeks?????!!!

Mazda....wow.
